“Highly Satisfied Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

I was so concerned about the bad reviews that I waited so long the price went up considerably before I finally booked. I was still hesitant and even sent a message to another reviewer on TripAdvisor. I did not hear back but decided to give it a try anyway. I even told my family (husband and boys ges 16 and 20) not to expect much. Felt very bad for doubting them. One of my biggest concerns was the"smell" I read about. The only smell we noticed was that of the pool as we passed the hallway, which I would expect to smell in any hotel with a pool. The pool itself was a big hit with us, just the right temperature, clean, room not too hot, and a clean suppy of towels. The room was clean and the TV was also a big hit, with movie channels my boys were pleased with. Yes, bathroom was small but loved the shower so much I took 2 in one day and also a bath! Front desk staff could not have been more helpful and were spot-on with their recommendations and directions. Very enjoyable 2 day stay.

We stayed here in July 2012. I just joined Trip Advisor & wanted to share our experience. Our room was on the 2nd floor and the hallways were hotter than heck. It had a bad musty smell and there were strange accordion closets in the hallway that were very creepy. The room had a bad smell and was musty. The bedding was old an dirty looking. The indoor pool was disgusting and had hairs floating in the water. The breakfast room was very tiny and crowded. We heard people raving about their rooms and wondered where they were actually staying ! It wasn't the same hotel we were in. Not a pleasant experience and would not return.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We were traveling near the area and decided to add a day to our trip and head on up to visit the beaches in and around York. With such short notice this was pretty much the only place we could find that had some rooms available. The outside of the hotel seemed clean and well maintained. The front desk person was friendly and checked us in quickly. This location is a 2 story building and does not have an elevator. We received a room on the second floor. We were only staying for one night therefore we didn't have much to carry so it was not a problem for us. The room was a typical setup for a 2 queen bed unit. It appeared to be clean, no stains, hairs, broken or torn items and the bathroom was fine. The carpet and furniture is dated and you can tell it has been awhile since the last update but nothing looked extremely old or worn out. We were out and about late and left early the next morning so basically the only thing we used was the bed which was ok. Breakfast was the typical choices at this type of chain hotel, not the best but not the worst, just a good way to save some money. If I were to ever return to the area I would rather stay on the beach but with short notice during the busy season, it worked fine for an overnight stay.

We had a four night stay at the Best Western in York, We stayed in a queen double the first night and a King room with pull out sofa the remainder of the stay since we arrived a day early and the queen was all that was available. Both rooms were spacious, the King being a larger room. The cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel was apparent. The continental breakfast was very good with a variety both hot and cold foods. My only complaint was that there was not enough seating in the breakfast room. The indoor pool was large and well maintained as was the exercise room. The staff was helpful, friendly and accommodating. We asked for extra pillows and they were delivered to our room within five minutes. It is a ten minute drive to Long Beach.

Room Tip: I recommend the king room for a family. No elevator for second floor access.

This hotel was well kept and clean. The staff were friendly. The beds were comfortable, not hard as a rock like most hotels. Overall our stay was a pleasant one. We stayed multiple nights and the only thing I would criticize is that the breakfast choices were the same every day. It would not have even been an issue if we had only stayed one night.

We shared a standard room with 4 people and had two double beds. The bathroom was extremely small and every time we walked into the room there was a disturbing smell coming from the carpet. We tolerated it because we didn't want to end up in a room that was worse. We had to keep asking reception for extra towels because they didn't accommodate that we were 4 people and need more than 2 towels. It was a last minute booking and this hotel was the only one that was affordable and close to long beach in Maine. Next time, book earlier.

I stayed at the York Best Western for three days. Upon a friendly arrival I went to the room. The room was OK not really updated besides the TV and Bathroom Sink. There was heavy dust on the head board and armoire/closet. The bedding had a large brown stain on it as well as hairs on the pillow cases. The front desk gave me fresh linens to remake the bed. The room was a fine size. I knew from previous reviews that the bathroom would be small. It was but it is a bathroom, how big does it need to be. The pool was not heated very warm. Only slightly warmer that the ocean in Maine. Breakfast was nice. Enough options without being overwhelming. We booked this room because it was a Best Western and know the independent chains can be more misses than hits. This Best Western was not as well maintained as others we have stayed at. Can tell it is on the lower end of the standards. The hotel is convenient to many restaurants and beaches. Location and price were both good. Quality not so much
