If you are going to have a small wedding and the families are from out of state, and you want to have fun and catch this is the wrong place to go. The reservations were made well in advance and all the families were all over the grounds, instead of in buildings together or close together. All the rooms were small, the top floors are not children friendly, kids can fall off your deck. They got upset with the families and ruined the bride and groom special day and were very unfriendly to everyone. Make sure your double check you bill and not get charge with any extras. I feel very sorry for the families, it was a hurtful day for all.

Management response from guestquarters, Owner/Manager
(Management representative)
Oct 11, 2009
The Dockside is a place where our guests have an expectation of peaceful and quiet relaxation. Our location and the layout of our facility are very conducive to this. Unfortunately, upon occasion, individuals do not respect other guest's desire and expectation of this atmosphere. However, when an individual or group behaves in such a manor as to generate numerous complaints from other guest we do address the situation and try to balance all of our guests needs. Unfortunately, in this case the "merry makers" did not cooperate or respect anyone else and in turn claim to be the ones that were persecuted.

Ironically, I do agree with the author of this review on one point - If you want to party and disrupt others -the Dockside is not the place to come.

If your decide to have your wedding there, I sugguest that your quests be a very quiet bunch of people. My son was the groom and his cousin he has not seen in two years drove from Tenn. for the wedding. When you are in the armed service for your country, it takes you away from your friends and family so of course you will be excited to see them. They had the Bride in tears and were rude to all of us ,the day of the wedding. They all need adittude adjustments!! They need to make adjustments in the way the do reservations. With a big party like we were, we should have been altogether not in seperate buildings. The rooms are small. My two grandchildren could not fit in the room given to my daughter because the room was to small for a twin bed and a pack and play , so our grand daughter was in with us.

This is the 2nd review by the same wedding group, so I will post the same response as I did to the first one. Eric Lusty -Innkeeper

My wife and I recently had our wedding at the Dockside Guest Quarters. Yes the view and surrounding area is beautiful and when we booked our wedding originally back in January 2009 we where very excited. We had family come in from Pennsylvania and Florida for the weekend to enjoy our special day with us. The night we arrived everything seemed to be going well until wewhere confronted the next day saying some people staying at the Gues quarters complained that we where loud. When family get's togetherand haven't seen each other for a long period of time it is natural to have fun, celebrate and enjoy each others company. I will say yes we did not know we where distrubing other guests until the next morning. After talking to the manager and apologizing the day of the wedding we figured that our wedding day would be wonderful. Once our ceremony started we where rushed to take pictures and enjoy a cocktail hour on the lawn by the waterfront. Once we went in for dinner our waitresses where very rude and also trying to rush us to finish the dinner and leave! The manager whom my wife worked with to arrange our wedding never once came up to congratulate us or ask if the ceremony and dinner where going well and met our expectations that we arranged with him months earlier. Some of the decorations that we where suppose to have on our tables where never done, we had no dinner music whic was suppose to be included and when I asked about it they ignored my request 3 times and continued to tell me they were working on it in a very rude manner. They where rude to us for our wedding since they had a few complaints on Friday which was very unprofessional, a wedding is suppouse to leave you with a lifetime of memories but the only memories my wife and I have now is the way we where treated by the management and staff. All they cared about is making money not about making sure that our wedding and family enjoyed themselves or their stay at the resort. If you are a young wedding couple ages 21 to late 30's I would not recommend this place. I have been in the navy for 19 years and traveled all over the world and have never been treated once the way my family was treated during that weekend. Of all the things in life I have sacrificed serving my country this was nothing but a slap in my face. I forgot to mention the rooms are very small for the amount of money you pay for them.

"We stayed in one of the out buildings closest to the water's edge. The slider was huge - affording a great view of the inlet, and beyond to the open sea. Very peaceful, nice spot for a romantic getaway for two; though there was no one in the adjoining unit, it seemed as if there would be ample privacy even if occupied.

The larger, family sized units seemed to be situated back a little further from ours, separated by lots of lawn, but they also had the same view of the water. The adjoining restaurant was first class, approaching some of the best hotels' chefs' food, prices reasonable, and our service was excellent.

Breakfast was ample and a good selection of homemade breads, etc., although we could tell if it were crowded, it may have involved a bit more of a wait for the serve-yourself style.

Overall a hearty recommendation!

Unfortunately we only got to stay one mostly rainy night at the Dockside so I can only imagine how much lovelier it must even be during a longer, warmer, sunnier stay!
Cosy, immaculate main house, beautiful grounds, nice breakfast. Our only complaint was that after a long journey, we had been looking forward to eating on-site but were told that we couldn't use the restaurant due to a wedding party (strange that there wouldn't be any tables left for regular diners). Also, some of the wedding party were staying in the main house - needless to say, a bit worse for wear when they returned to their rooms around 2 AM... In some ways, the house seemed a little bit of a strange mixture between a B&B (cosy, rooms have a homely touch like you are staying in a family member's bedroom, meeting other guests at breakfast) and a hotel (LOTS of people at breakfast, queues to get your toast, muffins, bagels - good luck if you actually wanted to toast any of them!)
All in all, though, a very nice experience - wish we had had more time (and hadn't coincided with a wedding)!
