Description: For many of us at GiGi's, our love of food started with our grandparents. A trip to gradma's always meant a roast in the oven and warm cookies and pies for dessert! Throughout our respective restaurant careers, Italian food and drink has inspired us immensely. Gigi is a name used for grandma in Italian. We found it very fitting that this restaurant, the culmination of our love for Italian food and drink, be named for our grandmothers.

“Fantastic Meal with the Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

We had a great early dinner with the kids (ages 4 and 2). The warm soft bread was a huge hit and our eldest loved dunking it in the olive oil. The kids enjoyed the calamari and finished the pasta & meatballs dish in which they shared. My oven roasted perch was delicious and the hubby, who doesn't usually eat veal, enjoyed the saltimbocca. I ordered the bubble drink and it was a nice fizz and not too strong...perfect. This is probably one of the most expensive meals we had as a family ($123), granted we are pretty stingy :) and rarely drink. Having said that, it was well worth given the ambiance, great service, and delicious food.

“Amazing hand crafted Italian meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

This is my third trip here over the past year, so time to throw down some thoughts. The food is consistent, first and foremost. And that alone says everything.

I was greeted by one of the partners when we walked up, and he remembered me from a year ago, so all good there. We sat at the bar, which has a nice view of downtown York and the beach.

To start I tore into a couple apps, local Oysters and the Gnocchi, The Gnocchi was off the hook amazing. Almost felt like they were whipped then formed, then pan fried a tad and placed simply with some olive oil and fresh shaved Parm. Scary tasty. And super clean and light (I know, odd for Gnocchi, but true).

For the entree I did the Veal Scaloppini (?) - plated with crispy proscuitto, cheese and veal set atop a crispy polenta cake. The rich dark sauce they paired with it brought the entire meal together. It was stunning, yet light and simple.

The other entree was some sort of lobster awesomeness wrapped in pasta - I thought they would be like the Canolli's (e.g. huge penne for you rookies), but it was more like a poured pasta crepe. Yes, I said that right - a semolina pasta crepe... and finished with a super light creme and some sauteed baby leeks I think. It was crazy amazing, and the polar opposite of the Veal dish.

The staff was super nice and chatty, in a you don't mind friendly sort of way, and they were super helpful with the menu, and what was right for the night.

Here's a little pro tip for you - for desert, ask for the salted donuts. I know, sounds odd, but do it - it's a variation on the regular donuts that you won't soon forget.

“Great food, great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

There were 4 of us and we each had a different dinner and all were fabulous. The chicken parmesan was great and enough to have some for lunch the next day. The flounder was light and the risotto was out of this world. The steak was tender enough to cut it with a butter knife and the saltimbocca was delicious. The best was the chocolate hazelnut ice cream we shared at the end. The staff and owners are the best and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun.

We tried Gigi's after meeting James at a bridal expo. We had a fantastic experience. The cuisine was excellent and the staff was top of the line. We'll definitely be back with our family, friends and clients!
