We stayed across the street at the Howard Johnson's earlier the same week, went to Canada a couple of days and decided to stay at the Super 8 the night before we flew home. Howard Johnson's had no room for this date and being the weekend, prices were pretty high.
"How bad could it be?" we thought. Well, this is a Super 8 so we didn't expect many amenities or much luxury. We only hoped for cleanliness and a decent bed for a few hours. Our very first impression was a friendly and helpful front desk staff. That's about the the sum of the good. As someone has pointed out, the halls have no air conditioning and are hot in the summer, especially when you are lugging luggage upstairs because there is no lift. Oh, did I mention the hallways also stink? And, the stairways creak and sag like they are about to cave in.
Entering the room, we were relieved that the air worked, though the unit was noisy. Within a few minutes we were thankful for the noisy air because the walls are thin and the place was very noisy. We even turned on the fan in the bathroom to help us drown out the noise. We have unfortunately stayed in a few worse places, but not that many. The cleanliness factor was OK and the odor in the hallways fortunately stayed there. The bed? Well, that was another matter. Just looking at it made us break out in laughter. It was one of those cases where you thought, "this is out of a bad movie!" The bed literally sunk considerably and visibly as the mattress was completely trashed. I've slept in some amazingly bed and diverse beds on six continents and I can say this may be the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. No, scratch that - tried to sleep in.
Bottom line: If you ONLY care about money, this might be a good deal for you. The location is close to the airport and the desk was friendly. But, if you want freshness, overall cleanliness, relative quiet and a comfortable bed, go ahead and pop for another $10-20 and enjoy a decent night's sleep. I now wish that I would have heeded that advice.
