I never knew the place existed until leafing through a AAA Guide Book at the last minute. Read through the TripAdvisor reviews and was impressed with the positive feedback. While online, I also saw the 3 nights for price of 2 nights special, and remembered seeing the $50 gift/$12 breakfast card promotion which accompanied this. When I arrived (without a reservation by the way) the older woman at the desk was kind and friendly, but it was I who had to explain the 3 nights for 2 special to her, and I had the impression that if I hadn't said anything, I would've paid for 3 nights. I also failed to mention the $50 gift card and the $12 breakfast card, and alas, she didn't mention it either. The reason that I thought more about this later is that there was a sign prominently displaced on the front desk (I noticed it on day 3) that said you could not claim any special promotions once you had checked in. It reminded me of some of the reviews that I had read concerning cancellation policies and the like for this resort because I got the impression (albeit subtly) that no one at the resort intended to explain these promotions to you (whether purposely or not, I'm not sure) and I also got the impression that there might be a lot of fine print with everything here. The other slightly bothersome thing was that the younger staffer at the desk on days 2 and 3 was not very outgoing or friendly (at least in my opinion). Something about her that made me feel a little unwelcome I guess--not a good trait in the hotel and hospitality business and in stark contrast to some of the high quality hotel chains. They also were very strict about checking out at the exact checkout time (or better yet, before) and said they would let you stay only if they charged by the hour for overstaying past check out. I can understand why this would be an issue in the high traffic months, but during April?? I'm sure the place was more than half empty and we were heading into a Monday. To be fair, policy is policy, but still, asking for an extra hour past checkout seemed very reasonable, but we were denied. All in all, it appears that if you play by the rules (and know enough to negotiate a good deal with them) you will be very happy here. P.S. All the positive comments made by the other reviewers are seconded.
As mentioned by other commentators, the "thin" walls seem to allow noise to travel easily...
