“Seahorse Resort - a Fantastic Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2014

There are so many choices of places to stay and we couldn't have been happier with our pick to stay at the Seahorse Resort. It was our first time to the area and the Seahorse was a great find. It is close to all the attractions (Kennebunkport, Wells, beaches, etc,) but when you drive into the property you instantly feel like you are much further away with a lily pond, swimming pool, play ground, horse shoes, and a fire pit. We were in a two bedroom cottage that was perfect for our family of four. It was very clean and had everything you could need to relax, and make a home base. We chose to eat out using the Owner, Liz's recommendations which were spot on. Liz and Bob were gracious and welcoming. We loved meeting up with the other guests at the fire pit at night.

The Seahorse resort has come a very long way. With it changing ownership 2+ years ago, the transformation is just unbelievable. The environment is so welcoming and cozy! The staff makes you feel right at home :) The rooms are very clean with all of the amenities you need for a great stay. Whether with family or friends, the environment suits all. If you're looking for a fun day by the pool or a relaxing night sitting around the fire pit, the seahorse resort is the place to be! We had a great stay and we can’t wait to come back!!

The motel rooms are really confortable and affordable, we really liked to have the option of bringing our lunch outside and eat on a picnic table by the pond, there's also a shared fireplace with wood available at the office. It kinda feel like a camping site, but with the confort of a hotel room! :) The Owner is nice with everyone and she makes sure we're happy with everything. It's the second time I've been ther and I'll go there again! :) The only downside was maybe the wifi, it's only available near the office... and maybe they could add one or two fireplaces!

Our family of 4 stayed in one of the cabins at the Seahorse Resort. Having the 2 bedrooms, in addition to the sitting room, kitchen and porch gave us plenty of space. Unlike being in a small hotel room, we were able to put the kids to bed in their room and then stay up without worrying about waking them up. The new firepit was close to our cabin so we hung out there at night and roasted marshmallows with the kids. We were also close to the playground so we could watch the kids from our screened-in porch. The pool was clean and refreshing.
The Seahorse Resort has a great location off Rt 1 - close to all the shops, restaurants and attractions. Liz and Bob were friendly and hospitable, providing information on their favorite local places to go.
We're even thinking about coming back next year with a few more families for a mini-reunion vacation.

We had a great time at the Seahorse Resort ... Rooms are clean, location is perfect and service is above and beyond. We used it as a central hub to travel north and south of Wells and it worked out perfectly. The owners, Liz and Bob, go out of their way to ensure that they are taking care of their guests so that everyone feels at home. We will definitely be back soon.

Well my wife got to re-live a happy memory from 45+ years ago. My wife had stayed there as a child when it was called "Sleepytown" with her family several times. The new owner purchased it three years ago and has completely redone everything. It is immaculate. We had googled it on our GPS on a camping trip. It was raining heavily and we decided NOT to camp in Wells, Maine. Pulling it up on the GPS it still says "Sleepytown" but the name has changed to Seahorse Resort with the new owner, Liz. .

Liz did everything to accomodate us with our dog Lola and our RV trailer. We were assigned to a cabin which was immaculate and very pleasant. It even had a screened porch where we could sit at night and enjoy the view. The Seahorse is not in the busy part of town, so it is easy to relax and enjoy the surrounding sights and crowds. Liz even provided us with a list and description of her favorite places in the area so we used that to choose entertainment and some dining. She was not wrong in her choices.

The Seahorse was close to restaurants, highways, and attractions. We enjoyed ourselves and felt we had made friends with the staff. There were many people with families of all ages at the Seahorse. They had a heated pool, playground for the children and even fire pits and grills for the families staying there. They also own an ice cream store on the grounds that was open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

We loved our stay in one of the cottages. Clean and well kept. The location is outside of the bustle of Wells proper, but close to the great beach at Drake Island. Nice place to cut the kids loose plenty of room for then to run around. New fire pit a plus, met some new friends sittin' round the ole campfire.

Thanks to Liz and her staff.

Room Tip: Cottages have ample room for a family of four. Full size fridge and kitchen has essentials.
