“Screaming, crying, temper tantrums, door slammming ...and that was just the parents”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

BEWARE--I am a business traveler. I booked into this hotel because of a previous good experience there. What a nightmare.
Discovered a large (more than 25), badly-behaved group of little girls whom I was told were a dance group called Dance Zone were staying there. They carried on all night, running through the halls, screaming, yelling and slamming doors. The parents were worse, which is probably why the kids were so badly behaved. The hotel management was unresponsive to complaints about noise and permitted a loud pool party for these children who appeared to be about 7 to 10 years old AFTER 11 PM. I had a meeting the next morning and really had gotten only about 3 hours of sleep. I will not go back to this Hampton Inn again.

Had a great stay at this Hampton Inn. Close to Kittery, Freeport and Portland shopping. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff are always pleasant and eager to help. Rooms was clean. Cookies in the lobby in the evening are fantastic!

Our stay was during the first week of May, 2013. I had not stayed at a Hampton before and was very impressed. Although there were many other hotels and motels in the area advertising cheaper rates, I feel we got our money's worth. Beds were very comfortable, nice linens, quiet sleep, and excellent breakfast choices. The pool was very clean and the laundry facilities were a real blessing. It is not on the oceanfront but is conveniently located with many good restaurants nearby. Room 142 is very large with two queen beds.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn this past weekend expecting to relax, enjoy the pool, have some peace and quiet. Fat chance of that happening. We waited a week a week longer for our trip because of school vacations. It was a little disconcerting to find a hotel full of screaming, yelling girls running up and down the corridors all hours of the night. We brought our complaints to the staff at the front desk. One woman shrugged her shoulders and said there wasn't much they could do. It appears that the hotel is more interested in booking their rooms without caring about the rest of the patrons. If this is the attitude of the management, we will never be staying here again.

Surely when such a large group books in with approximately 50 small children, the management needs to inform the other guests that such a group is at the hotel when booking.

Shame on Hampton Inn. There a plenty of other properties in the area. This is not a $39.00 a night place. I expect more from the Hilton group.

What a disappointing weekend.

This is a very friendly, clean and great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and professional, the hotel is very clean and there are lots of great things to do in the area if you want to check them out. A great stay and we will definitely go back.

Have stayed here before on business previously and been delighted. However, management booked a large dance troupe of screaming, rude little girls into the hotel on an already very busy weekend. They were allowed to conduct a pool party at 11 p.m. Other guests were wandering the halls trying to figure out what all the noise was about. Nobody got any sleep. They continued to roam the halls of the hotel (even on the floors they were not staying on) and playing in the elevators all night and the entire weekend. This is not a cheap hotel; it ought to be quiet at night.
It is incomprehensible that a nice business class hotel like this would book such an event that caused 75 percent of its regular adult guests to be disturbed by a group that probably occupied 10 rooms in the building. STAFF WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO COMPLAINTS.

Room Tip: Be aware that this hotel may book low-class tacky, groups in just to fill rooms, at the expense of...

Immaculate room and breakfast area, comfortable bed, good location right on Route 1, no noise from other rooms or from the parking lot even though we were on the first floor, good continental breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.
