Just got back from having spent one night at the Tallwood Motel on our way to Cape Cod. Were very apprehensive because of the reviews, but booked there anyway as the Tallwood had been recommended by friends of ours who have stayed there four times... and so glad we did!
As long as you realize this is a roadside motel - not a beach place - it is actually a nice place to stay, above average, even quaint, freshly painted, clean and comfortable and value for the money is excellent.
So please don't hesitate to make this your place in Wells.

First of all, let me say the pool was fine. I have probably stayed at 20 different motels in Wells/Ogunquit and this one was one of the less desirable. The rooms were OK but only OK. Clean enough but dated. Thin towels, etc, you know the rest. Bathroom was ridiculous.....a sliding door that you had to squeeze by to get into the bathroom. One you were in the bathroom you had about 7" frontal clearance. There are better places to stay for more money but it would be worth it to me: The Elmwood, The Garrison House and Atlantic Motor Inn.

This place was inexpensive & the room was clean. My problem with it was the carpeting & the overall environs. Your typical roadside motel-ordinary, lackluster grounds. The seating area outside the room -also the car park- was a bit neglected-webs w/a lot of deadbugs trapped in them. The carpet in the room was darkened by the accumulated soil over the years as well as stained and really detracted from thecleanliness of therest of the room as well as owner's attempt at some color coordinated decor. There was a microwave & a nice compact refrigerator in the room. The front desk man was friendly.
