“Great beach location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We were put in the marsh view rooms at Oxcart, just a couple hundred feet from the sand. Clean rooms, keurig, daily newspaper, and chairs/balcony overlooking the marsh. Fan on the wall with A/C. They have a small indoor pool in the main building with a jacuzzi area. You get vouchers for free coffee at the restaurant stand next to the beach. Parking was not an issue (granted we came after labor day), and Wells has a fantastic beach. Bring your own pillows if you can- theirs are not adequate. They offer free wi-fi but it keeps cutting out. Great stay!

Room Tip: If you have a marsh view, go for the second floor so you're not staring at cars. It is right nex...

We have visited here many-a-times and have always enjoyed our stay. You can not beat the view - right on the ocean. Our favorite lodge is the Wells Motor Inn, which like some of the other Lafayette lodges, is right on the beach. In fact, if you get one of the up-stairs rooms, you have your own small balcony, overlooking the beach and the coast of Maine, from Kennebuckport to Ogunquit. Always a great view. And there is nothing better than leaving the slider open at night, hearing the sounds of the surf to lull you to sleep. With that being said, the rooms were a little cramped for more than two people. The bathroom was small, and even
with a fridge and a microwave, there was no coffee maker. What is up with that? But, the room we stayed in was recently updated and it was clean and comfortable. And for the first time we used the indoor pool and the hot tub in the main building. We liked that very much. And I will have to say that the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Even with the cost, the smallness of the rooms, and some of the rustic elements, I would return in a heartbeat. Always a great place to stay.

Room Tip: A corner room at the Wells Motor Lodge is great because of the extra window, allowing more light in.

We spent a week at the Marsh Connection which is one of the condos/rentals managed by Lafayette's Oceanfront Resort. Anyway, the property is set back from the ocean by about 200m so you have to walk through the parking lot/drive to get to the steps down to the beach, but this isn't a major hassle.

The property was very nice, clean and had some of the basics you'd need for a weekly rental (linens, dishes, pots/pans, silverware, etc). We had to bring our own towels and we also had to make some purchases to get the kitchen more usable (dishwasher soap, etc). The deck had a great view of the inland waterway/marsh and it was almost as pretty as the ocean. It's on the main road into Lafayette but the bedrooms are on the marsh side so noise isn't an issue.

Lafayette has a great pool and the whole family enjoyed our visit.

Myself, sons 4 and 6 hubby and mother in law had a great tIme at this hotel. The views from the panorama section were amazing and just steps away from the sand. It is expensive but to be so close to the water was worth the extra cost. Hearing the waves crash made for some great sleeping. The room decor is just ok nothing fancy but room with balcony was spacious enough we didn't feel closed in. After a long day on the beach using the indoor pool with the kids was really nice and the pool is just a quick walk over to the main building. Plenty of fun things to do with the kids within 10 minutes north or south on main st. Wells really is a great central beach town.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms are the way to go with this hotel.

Stayed in Panorama 209 Beautiful 3 days. Walked to the breaker, relaxed on the beach, enjoyed the view. Close distance to dining spots. Nothing better than walking over to Forbes food stand and getting morning coffee and egg sandwich. Lobster boats are always intersting to watch, as are the veried vacationers.

Room Tip: Panorama has great view. See picture

Found this by accident in the summer of 2012, booked this summer before we left, and did the same thing this year when checking out. There are choices of building, so choices of cost, and we have stayed right on the beach. The Forbes restaurant, right on the property and steps from any building, has been there since I was a child and is still great, and so convenient. Take lunch out on the beach, eat there, grab breakfast, whatever. Our experience is that our rooms have been clean, and we have everything we need. Very convenient location as well, without the Ogunquit traffic. Can't wait to get back!

Room Tip: There are views on their website, which show the rooms and the views from each room.

This was our 2nd year in a row staying here and again, it was a wonderful stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and the view and beach are great. Spring for the oceanfront rooms, they are a bit nicer, my brother was in one of the lower rate rooms and it was a bit rough, though still fine for what it was.
Having Forbe's restaurant right in the parking lot is great for breakfast and lunch, then venture out and hit some of the other local resaruants for dinner.
All in all a great stay, don't hesitate to book this place if you are interested in it!

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are the way to go!

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We strive to provide you with the best possible experience during your stay. We do have rooms with older décor, but we are always trying to make our rooms more modern and comfortable, by painting, replacing furniture, beds, tiling and doing complete renovations. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and we look forward to hosting you in the future.

Lafayette's Oceanfront Resort is directly on Wells Beach, one of the largest sandy beaches in Maine. We have a complex of nine different buildings, five of which sit right on the beach. Many of our rooms have private balconies with panoramic views of the ocean. We are open year round so you do not need to miss any season. Although summer is certainly the most popular season in Maine, the beauty of this coastal area is enchanting throughout the year. Wells Beach is fun for families. Walk from your room onto the sand to swim, build sand castles, stroll in the surf looking for shells and rocks or just relax and enjoy the feel of the sun on your face while you enjoy the view. The indoor pool and the hot tub with a waterfall are very relaxing after a hot day in the sun. The playground and the arcade will entertain the children after the beach. ... more   less
