“Good if you're looking for basic accommodations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We have stayed here a couple of times, mostly because of the price. Also, we like that they have lobster pots and a grilling area which has everything you need, including plates, platters, utensils and table cloths.

Recreation on the property includes a lovely, heated pool, shuffleboard, swing set and a basketball hoop. The basketball hoop is located in the driveway right across from some of the rooms. It was annoying trying to drive when there were people in the way playing basketball. Also, some of the people playing had no decency to keep the ball from hitting the cars that were parked in front of the rooms.

This motel is within walking distance to the beach. I'd say it takes about 15 to 20 minutes and there are no sidewalks on the way. Still, it beats paying $15 to park at Wells Beach for the day.

The rooms are pretty basic, nothing luxurious. They do have a large mini fridge and a microwave. They do not have hair dryers in the rooms. You will have to ask for one at the desk.

The owners seem nice enough. They are a bit addled though. I was overcharged and they took a while to get back to me and to correct the issue. I overheard other guests having similar issues as well.

If you are looking for basic accommodations, this place could save you some money. But, keep a close eye on what they charge you.

Room Tip: Rooms 2-5 are across from the basketball hoop. Some of the rooms are on the 2nd floor, if you can...

Travelsw3,

Thank you for taking the time to review our motel. We hope that despite your experiences with the basketball area and the confusion regarding your bill you enjoyed your stay with us.

May is always a hectic month for us as we're busy preparing the motel and our staff for the season ahead. Offering affordable accommodations is a high priority for us and it is very important that each patron's bill reflects this. We apologize that this transitional time affected your check-in with us and will work hard to ensure that our office is running as smoothly as possible, no matter the time of year, for our future guests.

We're very proud to provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere for our guests and are constantly adding to our list of amenities. That said, we also want to ensure that our current offerings continue to enhance our guests' experience. We appreciate your feedback regarding our basketball area and although we cannot guarantee each guest's appropriate use of it, please be assured that we will be taking a more proactive approach to ensure that it is being used responsibly.

Again, we hope that you were able to enjoy your stay with us and appreciate your feedback. We're always looking to make improvements to our service and property and it's always a more effective and successful process when our guests play an active role in it - Thank you!

This motel was very clean inside in out during our stay (Columbus Day weekend.) We had a two room suite which was very similar to a cottage, with a living room (with table, sofa and twin bed), kitchenette (sm oven, microwave, fridge) and bedroom with king bed & TV. I though this was a good deal for $60/night.

It was outdated - 70s or 80s style and older TVs. It was also somewhat inconvenient. For example, the bathroom didn't have a plug so I had to do my hair in the kitchen area and look at the bathroom mirror from there. I'd prefer not to do my hair in the kitchen area - yuck. I'm wondering if folks are saying it's not clean simply because it's older. The bathroom was very clean, but the shower/tub really need to be replaced.

I thought the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. I cannot imaged anyone would think sh was rude. If you're going to Maine for the first time or a special occasion, you should choose a higher priced motel. We live near Maine and were going for a nearby wedding so we really didn't need anything fancy, just a decent place to sleep. We also prefer 2 rooms because our children are teens - and that can get expensive. Like I said, overall a good deal for the price.

Room Tip: pay a bit more for the kitchenette, it's not too much more & they include everything you nee...

VTHiker89,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of our motel. We're happy to learn that you enjoyed our two room suite complete with all the luxuries of home! They're a family favorite and budget saver for those who want stay on the property for a cook out or home cooked meal all while enjoying the privacy of your own bedroom separate from a comfortable living space.

We value the feedback we receive from our motel guests and appreciate you mentioning the placement of outlets in your suite. Please be assured that we are working hard to upgrade this by providing more accessible outlets for guests' computers, chargers and of course, hairdryers. Should you choose to stay with us in the future (we would love to have you back!), please don't hesitate to bring concerns like this to our attention during your stay. No concern is too small and we will gladly do all that we can to remedy any inconveniences and ensure that your stay meets all your expectations.

To address your concerns regarding the motel's aesthetics, we're pleased to share with you that over the winter a number of exciting updates have been finished including the complete renovation of 12 motel rooms! We hope that in the near future no room will be left untouched, but until then, we'll be sure to consider your feedback while planning our ongoing updates to the property. Your comments and suggestions are our best tools in improving our level of service and high standards.

Again, thank you for sharing your experience of your recent stay at the Ne'r Beach Motel. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to share them with us. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Southern Maine!

We just returned from our second visit this year, with fall approaching. We had our chihuahua with us, and this motel is a good place to stay if you are travelling with a pet. We visited all our favorite spots and had a very nice time. We highly recommend Ne'r Beach for its family friendliness and its comfort and attractive grounds.

My granddaughter and I have enjoyed multiple stays/year over the past 5 years. Very family/children oriented. Excellent service. Multiple things for us to do close by. Excellent
restaurants in the area.

Room Tip: I rent a kitchenette due to length of stay, 4-5 days each time.

Very clean and family friendly, we loved this cozy little motel. The staff was super friendly. although it should be noted that while the location is a 10 minute walk to Moody Beach that beach is private. It's just a short drive to Wells and Crescent beach.

3Needs,

We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciate you taking the time to add a review of our motel. As you mentioned, we are within walking distance to Moody Beach. In fact, a 6/10 of a mile walk down Furbish Road, which is off of Route 1 and quietly nestled alongside the Rachel Carson Wildlife Reserve, will lead you right to the coast!

While this is a private beach, its important to note that there are various public access points that we encourage visitors to use. It truly is a beautiful stretch of beach to walk - one of the most beautiful, pristine and quiet beaches in the country. Best yet, a leisurely walk south feeds right into Ogunquit Beach (public). This is a piece of our coast you shouldn't miss!

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to see you again this season!
