“Returned visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This is the second time we've stayed at this Hotel. The people were friendly, the rooms were clean.

While I found the rooms were a long way away from the front desk, if you went outside you could drive to the area closest to your room, which was good if you have a lot of luggage. Then it wasn't so bad.

The rooms were clean and had lots of room. It was quiet also.

The restaurant was really good when we ate supper there but the breakfast the next morning took 45 minutes to get. It didn't seem to be the fault of the waitresses but may there was a short on cooks that morning. The food was good when it arrived.

I would stay there and try it again.

Room Tip: You may want to ask for a room near an entrance for less walking.

We just returned from a weekend at the Waterville Best Western. Waterville is the hometown of dear friends whom I've visited my entire life. Growing up, we always stayed with their family, but now many have moved away, so we selected this conveniently located hotel. The staff at the desk, resturant and chambermaids were very friendly, the rooms are updated, the pool water really warm (it serves as a fitness center and physical therapy clinic), and breakfast was included. The downside was there was a large convention going on which caused crowding in the main lobby, hallways and elevator areas (noisy, too!). Possibly because of the convention crowd, we were placed on the first floor, which allows animals. Though the room was clean enough, the carpet and chair had dog hair. Also, because the exit was closeby, smoke could be smelled in the room, though it was non-smoking. Additionally, the connecting corridor had automatic sliding glass doors which repeatedly opened, blasting us with cold air and the closet doors of everyone in our party were off the track. A call to maintenance rectified that situation. If we have reason to return to Waterville again, I would consider staying here, but ask for a higher floor.

Room Tip: Higher floors do not allow animals, are probably quieter and shouldn't smell of smoke.

Stayed one night on business travel. Pleasantly surprised with the property. It was on par with what I experience with another brand that I typically stay at. Lobby was nicely done with 3 computer workstations. It's quite a walk to the roms from the lobby, but hallways were clean and had newer carpet. The king room featured a comfortable bed, small arm chair with a fot stool, and a large desk. Large plat panel TV, and a fridge and microwave. Bathroom featured high end wood grain tiled floor, epen shelf wood vanity with a granite top. Features a bar/restaurant that also serves a full breakfast. Breakfast featured a full menu of eggs, waffles, etc.; service was quick.
Minuses -
dust on the floor around the perimeter of the room where the vacuum doesn't reach, child like size glass of orange juice with breakfast, and the smell of hydraulic fluid from the elevator. You must check-out at the desk and sign the credit card receipt.
I would definetely stay at this property if inthe area again.

Driving to make a destination, pulled off the I-95 and there was the Best Western. Check in very speedy. Opened the door and was pleased to find the room refreshingly clean and roomy.
The beds were like home, cozy not spring boards.
Only thing was, we were under the impression that they had a free cont- breakfast in the a.m. But a coupon to the pub. Grabbed 3 blueberry muffins and coffee from the pub and on the road. Miles down the road I heard a "ack" from the back seat. Muffins- mold on the bottoms. Well a quick breakfast might not be the way to do with the pub, They probably do a great warm breakfast but time was not on our side.
Room A+ Speedy Breakfast from Pub Not so memorable.

The layout of the hotel was a bit confusing...took a few going in and out of the hotel to get the shortest route to my room. Location is EXCELLENT; right off the I-95 and right in the vicinity of 0 minutes to 2 minute driving are restaurants, fast foods, gas station, supermarket, starbucks, and walmart. The area seems safe. My room (king suite) had a little bit of dust on the sofa...probably wasn't booked in a while, but everything else was very clean. The breakfast was DELICIOUS. At first I was a bit doubtful due to the negative reviews I read regarding the breakfast; however, it's not bad as some people have reviewed. Each morning, you get a $7 breakfast voucher, which is good till 11AM (another plus so you don't have to wake up that early since many hotels stopped breakfast at 9 or 10). The voucher is good for a FREE breakfast if you choose the combo of juice, coffee/tea, 2 pancakes, and bacon (2 strips) or sausage (2 patties). There is a wide variety of other breakfast foods on the menu if you want something else...the variety consists of everything you'd get in a continental breakfast and more (ie. omelettes), and if you choose anything else besides the free combo that's offered, you either just pay the tax if the things you choose adds up to under or equal to $7, or if the things you ordered is more than $7, you just pay tax + your food price - $7. The most expensive thing on the breakfast menu I believe was $10 or $12. Didn't use the pool or gym but they look clean. Decent hotel to stay at.

Room Tip: I think the 1st floor are all smoking rooms...when you walk through the hallway you will smell cigar...

Despite all the bad reviews that I have read about his hotel (referring to reviews from August of 2012), I took a chance with this hotel and I was surprised.... Check in was smooth, the lobby was very clean and pleasantly inviting. Once check we walked to the elevator which was like almost a maze to get to. The layout of the hotel is a bit weird and a little inconvienent (only the elevator location). The hotel has a huge parking lot, right off the I-95 interstate (you can't miss it), there are many entrances to the hotel. This was a major benefit if you parked in the back or the side of the hotel and had lots of luggage. Location was by far best spot, you can literally walk to across to the restaurants and stores nearby. There was Friendly's, Ruby Tuesday, Walmart, Hannahford's, Ming Lee's Chinese food, Advance Auto Parts, Citgo Gas Station and much more. We had the King size bedroom, very clean, modern look, flat screen tv with lots of cable channels, microwave, fridge, coffee maker. The room had lots of space to place your belongings, it even had a closet....the bathroom shower drain was slow, but it cleared up for our stay for 5 days. The room's air conditioner and heater worked perfectly. We ate breakfast at the O'Brien Pub Restaurant which was shared in the hotel. I've read previous reviews of other people complaining about lack of choices... that was a complete lie. The voucher they give you covers anything up to 7$ and whatever is left over after the discount you just pay. The menu had a huge variety of foods ranging from hot breakfast to light food such as pancakes, sausage, bacon, french toasts, various omelettes, country fries ( highly recommend this), bagels, yogurt, cereal.. basically a full breakfast and continental style, it is not a breakfast buffet. I ate here for 4 days and had great service, very friendly staff especially Bonnie, Ashley, Macey and Gloria. The restaurant was spacious, clean, and had great decor and a fireplace. It was very relaxing to eat there, breakfast hours were from 6 am to 11am.. so if anyone sleeps in, this would be another benefit. The pool area was very clean, fitness center was clean and had no odor. The computers in the lobby are very up to date, touch screen computer, fast internet and good wi-fi, but the printer didn't work and it wasn't big deal to me. Travel time to Brunswick is about 1 hour and to York is about 2 hours. Overall this is a very good hotel. If anyone is considering this hotel, I highly recommend.

Clean, but paint chipping in various areas. Former holiday Inn- so pool and fitness center is open to memeberships for residents. In late afternoon four people were using the pool for laps- clearing locals who were members. Made it hard for guests, especially ones with children to enjoy the pool.I will say I had the best corned beef hash ever as their breakfast special, which came with the room.

Room Tip: Don't stay near end of hall- door opening and closing noisy.
