“We stock up each year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

This is some special quality gin with its own unique flavor and wonderful wines too. Go for a tasting of not only wine but gin and other liquors. You will likely purchase somethings for home and gifts. The farm is more than a place to taste and purchase. It is a beautiful spot. The owner is knowledgeable and knows his stuff but is easy to talk to.

“Taste of Maine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

We included several wineries in our own Taste of Maine tour. Sweetgrass was a fun place to visit. We were looking for blueberry wines on our tour, and Sweetgrass had several to sample. $2.50 to sample 6 and we got to keep the glass. The "Bluejoulais" was my favorite, though my companion favored the sweeter wines. The Smashes are actually dessert wines. Sweetgrass shipped several of those home for us. A pleasant excursion for us.

“World Class Gin CAN'T be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

My wife and I stopped in while blazing the Maine Wine Trail. Follow the sign off the main road, and keep driving... Don't be worried you are going in the right direction. While the weathered barn exterior has you 2nd guessing yourself, don't...because you are in for a treat! With their tasting bar IN the distillery, in may not have a world class feel, their offerings will not disappoint.

Back River Gin: a countless medal winner, and recently listed as one of the top 50 spirits WORLDWIDE, any aficionado will not want to pass up a "bucket list" opportunity to taste what some may call "Gin Perfection." Reasonably priced bottle as I recall too, so don't forget a gift for Dad!

They had a special when we were there where for $3 (I think) you got 6 tastings and you got to keep the logo etched stem-less glass as a souvenir !

While their other offerings may not yet have reached a world stage, they will not disappoint. Cranberry, apple, and peach brandy's are a refreshing change from the other wineries you will surely visit.

All in all, yet another stop not to be missed in Maine!

“Little winery with big wines”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

We were just driving around Union, Maine and saw a sign that said winery. We followed. A small house held a well-decorated room. Soon a lady walked across the road and led us to the tasting counter. She was as nice as she could be. We were delighted at the taste of the wines. We bought a wonderful Blueberry Oak Reserve wine. We were so impressed by the quality of the wine. We started our wine tour that day. We saw 6 more wineries by the time the week ended, and had purchased 12 wines. Each winery had its own charm and twist, what a journey. We were thrilled to see a wine region in Maine and look forward to our September visit and more of the 25 wineries of Maine. Not that far from Portland use your GPS and it will be a breeze. We want to go back and try some Gin as well as buy a few more wines. Worth the trip!!!

“Still talking about it weeks later...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2011

What a delight! Saw a road sign on our recent Maine vacation and impulsively decided to find sweetgrass! Off the beaten path and worth every mile. Had fabulous tasting of 6 wines for VERY reasonable price. Bought four bottles and some vanilla. Back in Chicago now dreaming of Maine while sipping the blueberry wine with dinner and savory the cranberry smash with desert! Hope they'll ship to IL. We're hooked!
