We stayed at the Kingsleigh Inn for 2 nights and we wish it could have been more! From the minute we walked in we felt right at home. The common rooms are nicely decorated and Dana and Greg have thought of every little detail: an espressomachine with all kinds of syrups, cookies in the afternoon, ... We stayed in the Abbott and Victoria room, both beautiful rooms with lots of light. The bathroom is rather small, but everything was provided: from makeupremoval to earplugs, ... Its very caracteristic for this B&B, there's not a single detail overlooked. I loved the magazines in the room. Dana and Greg are wonderful hosts: warm, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was a delight! I highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Mount Desert Island.

My husband and I are just finishing a wonderful 3 night stay at the Kingsleigh Inn and don't want to leave! We're in the Wellington room, which is downstairs. Even thought it is close to the kitchen we didn't ever hear any breakfast prep in the morning. The breakfasts were amazing, the afternoon cookies were delicious, and the port and truffles were very high quality and a welcome way to end the day. Dana and Greg were such gracious hosts, and their restaurant recommendations were always perfect. The Kingsleigh Inn is an excellent value -- we highly recommend it!

“Fabulous Place to Honeymoon”

My husband and I stayed at the Kingsleigh Inn for our honeymoon. The owners were so welcoming and accommodating, and the breakfast and afternoon treats were delicious. The location is great, and much quieter than Bar Harbor. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get away and relax.

Location - superb - in Main street right on the doorstep of all the local restaurants
Rooms - clean, tidy with the best "little" touches I have ever experienced - robes, slippers, sound machines, chocolates, port, etc.
Hosts - Dana and Greg were friendly, warm and welcoming and very informative and most of all helpful
Public areas - warm and welcoming
Breakfasts - very nice, however, at times a little over the top when something more plain would suffice and a little sweet for our savoury preferences
Local attractions - Bar Harbour, Wonderland walk, Jordans pond - the list goes on!
Restaurants - Red Sky is one of the best restaurants I have been luck enough to eat in, Cafe Dry dock offer a awesome clam clowder

See other places we stayed - Afton Inn, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire - The Timberholm Inn, Stowe, Vermont - The Kingsleigh Inn, Southwest Harbour, Maine - The Martin Hill Inn, Portsmouth, New Hampshire - By the Sea B&B, Plymouth, Massachusetts - The Boston Yacht Haven, Boston, Massachusetts

“Turned 50 with Fabulous Hosts and Chocolate Covered Strawberries”

Kingsleigh Inn 1904

Oct 12, 2006

Three girlfriends and I traveled to Maine to celebrate my 50th birthday and run in the half marathon race through Acadia National Park. We had never been to Maine and picked the Kingsleigh Inn after seeing their website. The picture perfect cruisine dishes prepared by Dana were, shall I say, "icing on the cake." It was the concensus throughout the house that the food was every bit as delectable as the pictures. The house is most charming, warm and cozy. Every evening we enjoyed our complimentary Port throughout the various sitting areas in the house, including the wraparound porch. We felt as if we were at home! Dana and Greg surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries in my room the day of my birthday, which was so incredibly sweet (both them and the strawberries!) Without a doubt, we were lucky to have picked the absolute best place to stay on our first trip to Maine, and we will definitely stay with Greg and Dana on our next visit. Everything was superb!!!
