“The best soup ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

While vacationing in Maine we stayed right down the street from the Fiddler's Green. Based on a recommendation, we decided to try it for dinner one night. I ordered the butternut squash lobster bisque and it was hands down the best soup I have had in my life. I was so sad that I was full after dinner because I would have ordered another bowl for dessert. There were six of us and we all had wonderful meals. Our server was new, but she was very friendly, so it made up for the slowness. And the soup, did I mention the soup, that made up for everything. I only wish I could get my hands on the recipe...

“Good service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Another local restaurant messed up our reservations so we were looking for a place that could accommodate 11 people on short notice. Fiddlers' Green was very accommodating and the food was delicious!

“Sumptuous food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Fabulous food and excellent wait staff. It was very hot that day, and they needed a real air conditioning solution. The many fans didn't cool down the room. But the cuisine was worth the heat!

“A gentle treasure of a restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

We visited Fiddlers' Green last night, our fourth visit in the last three years. The meal was, as each previous time, delightful; well prepared, nicely proportioned, and well presented. The evening's wine special was interesting want cost effective. The oysters, from nearby Taunton Bay, were the best we have ever had anywhere--fresh, plump and tasty.

It is always interesting to attend one of these more summer establishments as they are breaking the winter chrysalis to spread their wings again; many have found some new staff in front end positions like wait staff. In this case that was certainly the case: the hostess was young but charming and responsive, the waitstaff seemed sufficient in number but disorganized and unfocused. We were allowed to sit for some time without anyone asking for drink orders while our waitress hovered over a nearby table. We did not know, of course, that she was ours as she had not made any approach at all. Finally the hostess, noted previously as charming, happened by. I made a gesture which indicated we had been waiting rather a while; she promptly came herself, explained the specials, and took our drink order which was delivered by the person who was, we discovered, to be our waitress. She did take our order but all the various elements of the meal from bread to water were brought by other members of the staff with whom we had not connection not they one with us. It seemed an awkward way to deliver service in what is really a fairly small restaurant.
However, the gracious action of the hostess did save the experience and we heartily recommend the restaurant and trust they will figure out their service routine by mid-season.
We do tend to prefer this to the nearby Red Sky as that one, however fine the cooking, can be a tad precious in presentation and self-conscious of its fineness on the Island.

“Creative Menu!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

This place was recommended to us by a fellow traveler on the ferry to Little Cranberry Island who visits MDI frequently. It is run by a couple who really have put their heart and soul into its operation and there is great attention to detail. So, why very good?
I am a water guzzler and an empty glass sat at my place for most of the meal.
My entrée was an excellently prepared roast local pork--but the presentation was very "beige" and while very tasty, lacked variation in texture (something crunchy and green would have helped!) as well as color. It just didn't look appetizing...
My wife's scallops were a delight to the eyes and it got better from there!
Killer blueberry martini!
