“It's gone downhill!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

This used to be one of our favorite breakfast spots after a night in our tent. We were always okay with the too-high-for-breakfast prices because the food was delicious and plentiful. Unfortunately on our most recent visit, the menu was limited and the food on our plates was minimal. We are hoping that this was an anomaly and just a bad morning for Grumpy!

“Yumsters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

We were literally on our sailboat and had docked at Dysart's (right below Grumpy's) in order to do boat chores like grocery shopping and 8 loads of laundry. I was feeling a bit grumpy myself that morning when my husband appeared in the laundry room at Dysart's and suggested we repair to Grumpy's deck for coffee.

Once there-----just a few yards from said laundry-room-------the idea of coffee-only went away quickly. I ordered the best breakfast wrap I've ever had, which contained curry. It was very reminiscent of the Caribbean, which is no surprise since the owner was a chef on boats in Antigua. My husband had a more American-style breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast, etc) which was too huge to finish. He said it was excellent.

Great place. We noticed a lot of local guys hanging out having coffee at the counter indoors.....a good sign. We had a nice sunny day so ate outside. It's an OK view, not great----more working-harbour-ish but dotted with yachts at Dysart's.

It's not fabulous views but has some views and is authentic. Loved it. The bill was around $16 for 2 of us.

“Breakfast Roti- filling and inexpensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

My husband and I have been to Grumpy's two of our last 3 vacations on the Island. We have tried many of the breakfast places during our almost 40 years of vacationing here. Grumpy's is a bit hard to find; on the end of a warehouse, but with unobstructed views, right on the harbor down in the marina complex. It has inside, screened porch, and outside tables to suit all types of weather conditions. It's a no frills place with an owner who will take time to chat with you when its not real busy, and clean restrooms. I have always ordered the breakfast roti, which is a large flour tortilla with diced potatoes, cheese, and a dash of curry. Its just about the least expensive item on the menu, but will satisfy you for most of the day. Coffee mugs are refilled regularly. I've also observed that their pancakes are HUGE, and people seem to like them. They have the usual breakfast items too.

“Great well kept secret!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012 via mobile

My boyfriend and I hate crowded touristy areas and found this place on our search for hidden treasures while visiting bar harbor. It's about a 20 minute drive but well with it the food is fantastic the lobster benedict is out of this world.
