My husband and I vacationed in early June in Southwest Harbor. We've done our own kayaking in the area on past vacations but didn't bring them this time. We've watched several kayak guide groups put in and return from the Indian Point site and something just made us remember Maine State Kayak. We were in Bar Harbor one day and decided to stop in the office there to schedule a trip. When the gentleman told us there was a trip going out near where we were staying we thought we could just meet them at the site where they put in the kayaks. When he told us we would have to meet in Bar Harbor just to go back to the area we were staying, we explained our situation he was very helpful. He suggested scheduling with their SW Harbor office which was right around the corner from us. He called them for us and we spoke with them to set up our afternoon trip. We had a great guide (I think it was Fletcher) who told us alot about the area and kept things interesting on the water. The great thing about this particular trip was that it was one way going with the current which helps for those who are first time kayakers. Don't remember if they offer other trips in season, but in early June this was the only trip they offered I believe around 1:30 p.m. Great experience. Weather helped...it was sunny, not too windy. Saw lots of seals. Stopped for a little break in a quiet cove. The time went by quickly. For experienced kayakers, we had a great time and would highly recommend this group.
