“Not your average Maine inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

After hours of searching for just the right place to spend a weekend away in Maine, I found Bear Mountain Inn. The location is awesome - perched up a small hill overlooking a pristine "pond" and offering fantastic views. We stayed in the Great Grizzly suite, which was very private and decked out with everything you could want for a romantic and relaxing getaway (pictures and descriptions on the site are dead on). Jim and his staff were helpful and accommodating, with great suggestions about restaurants, hikes and more in the area. Overall, the level of service and amenities was far beyond the typical Maine inn or B&B, and I hope we get to come back again soon!

We travelled all over New England and found the Bear Mtn. Inn to be the BEST experience of our whole trip. The property is absolutely beautiful and lends itself to a romantic peaceful stay. The Innkeeper, Jim, was especially nice and accomodating and made sure we were comfortable, giving us lots of options for things to do in the area. The breakfast was delicious, definitely gourmet in comparison to other breakfasts we've had at B&B's. We will return! M&L from Nevada

My husband and I stayed here in the Fuzzy Bear Room for three nights to celebrate our one year anniversary. The room was awesome; mini bar setup with minifridge, Jacuzzi, fireplace right by the bed, tv and dvd player. The Inn Keeper Jim was very nice and accomodating to all of our needs. We took advantage of all of the ammenities; out door fire pit, outdoor hot tub, grill, boating and fishing on the lake, and ofcourse the delicious breakfasts. The inn keeper had no restrictions about how we used everything. He even setup the fireplace and offered us smores! It was a perfect hassle free get-away for us. We plan on coming back next year!

I have a somewhat mixed review of our recent wedding at the Bear Mountain Inn. All said and done, the wedding was PERFECT, the weather and setting was beautiful, and everything came off without a hitch. We had a very small wedding with just immediate families and some friends, and the Inn was extremely flexible and friendly in catering to what we wanted and ensuring that our friends/family had a wonderful stay. My only reservation is that the event coordinator was extremely difficult to get ahold of in the initial planning stages of our wedding. I had very spotty responses from her via email, and had to call a number of times (both her cell phone and the Inn's main number), as did my guests (!!!) to get a response, confirm rooms, etc. Starting at about 2 weeks before the actual wedding, she suddenly became very responsive and everything got nailed down fine. The decorations, food, etc were even better than what I had expected on the actual day. So I would highly recommend this place as a venue for B-type, laid-back, not-gonna-worry brides with a small number of guests. Although I certainly don't think I was demanding or anything approaching bridezilla status, the fact that so many details were left to the last minute really caused me a good amount of stress during the planning process, and it's a factor to consider! As a place to stay for a relaxing trip, I would highly recommend it. We will definitely be back in the future.

Heard about the inn on the internet and drove up from Ohio for our honeymoon. We were completely satisfied with out stay, the great grizzly suite is beautiful and the view from the room was absolutely amazing. The staff were one of a kind, even making us breakfast to go for our early morning departure back home at 6 am. Atmosphere is very laid back and peaceful, right on a large pond where you can lay back on one of the hammocks or relax near a cozy fire. I would highly recommend others to check this place out, and hope to visit again soon in the near future.

Room Tip: Highly recommend the great grizzly, its very cozy and the view is spectacular!

I found this location by chance and couldn't believe the reviews that are skewed to excellent. I just came back and I also rate it as excellent. It is located on a small pond that is wonderful for swimming and kayaking which we did everyday. No motorboats on the days that we were there. The breakfasts were tasty and more than enough to start off the day. Jim is a wonderful host and who knows the area and goes the extra mile to make sure you get where you are going. It was so relaxing. We are thinking of coming back in the winter. It's got to be glorious then as well. What a find.

Room Tip: Be sure to check out the website. The rooms are described in detail. Don't be put off by the bat...

My wife and I stayed here and got married on July 27. The elopement package was all inclusive, everything we needed. We stayed in the Bear Paw suite and would highly recommend it. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast every morning was outstanding. The views over the pond were to die for. It was a breath-taking place to get married! It is close to attractions in NH for those who want adventure, but it's a quiet, peaceful place to relax if you don't. We canoed on the pond, and enjoyed a fire in the outdoor fireplace listening to the loons. We definitely plan on a return trip.
