Was taking the ferry to one of the islands in Casco Bay early Friday morning and was looking for a place to crash late Thursday night. The front desk was up and running at midnight when we arrived. Rooms were very clean and convenient to the highway. Would stay again. They look like they were in the middle of renovations so they are putting some money into the place.

Due to a family emergency, we made last minute travel plans to South Portland Maine. I made dozens of calls trying to find a hotel with 8 - 10 rooms so extended family could all stay together. Perhaps only because it was under construction did we find rooms available at the Days Inn South Portland. They were willing and able to accommodate all of us and at a reasonable room rate.

The location was very good, at a large intersection not far from the airport. The Days Inn was extremely accommodating to our family group with staff who were kind and compassionate. Rooms were kept very clean and individual needs were met promptly. The continental breakfast was very good for a hotel in this class (not much for protein, but nice variety). The breakfast attendant did an excellent job. Hotel lobby offered a computer with internet access for guests.

Our one disappointment is notable as the corporate website indicated that construction would be complete by May 31st and it was not. We were not bothered at all by any construction noise. There appeared not to be any air conditioning in public areas (including temporary breakfast room), but this was only a minor inconvenience. Most of the construction is near completion now, but the pool will probably still be awhile and the website should be updated. But once done, the new area will be a very nice addition.

We usually stay with Marriott, but this property was an excellent value, with a wonderful staff. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Our JetBlue flight out of Portland was cancelled due to bad weather in NYC. After spending 5 hours in the plane on the tarmac, we needed some rest (it was approaching midnight). The Jet Blue ticket agent suggested the Days Inn because they had a low Distressed Traveler rate ($79.99) + a 24 hour airport shuttle. After rescheduling our flight for the next morning, the hotel shuttle arrived almost immediately.

The hotel was less than 10 minutes from the airport. They are still undergoing major renovations, so they are working out of a temporary lobby. Air conditioning in the common areas was non-existent, but the room AC worked well (it was during the abnormal east coast heat wave this week).

We were quickly checked in and received a clean, comfortable room. Large, comfy king bed with 5 pillows, clean bathroom with enough towels and toiletries. Vending and ice machines were handy. I did see signs for a breakfast, but we didn't partake.

At 6am, the airport shuttle was on time and quickly got us back to the airport for our flight.

We stayed at the Days Inn for a quick weekend away in one of our favorite places, Portland. The hotel was going through renovations while we were there - a new lobby, pool and elevator are being added, due to finish in June, I believe they said. At any rate, our room was perfectly nice and clean, and I found the staff to be friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was included - cereals, muffins, toaster waffles, etc. Nothing fancy, but we got a good price through Hotwire, and I would certainly stay here again.
