Our JetBlue flight out of Portland was cancelled due to bad weather in NYC. After spending 5 hours in the plane on the tarmac, we needed some rest (it was approaching midnight). The Jet Blue ticket agent suggested the Days Inn because they had a low Distressed Traveler rate ($79.99) + a 24 hour airport shuttle. After rescheduling our flight for the next morning, the hotel shuttle arrived almost immediately.

The hotel was less than 10 minutes from the airport. They are still undergoing major renovations, so they are working out of a temporary lobby. Air conditioning in the common areas was non-existent, but the room AC worked well (it was during the abnormal east coast heat wave this week).

We were quickly checked in and received a clean, comfortable room. Large, comfy king bed with 5 pillows, clean bathroom with enough towels and toiletries. Vending and ice machines were handy. I did see signs for a breakfast, but we didn't partake.

At 6am, the airport shuttle was on time and quickly got us back to the airport for our flight.

We stayed at the Days Inn for a quick weekend away in one of our favorite places, Portland. The hotel was going through renovations while we were there - a new lobby, pool and elevator are being added, due to finish in June, I believe they said. At any rate, our room was perfectly nice and clean, and I found the staff to be friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was included - cereals, muffins, toaster waffles, etc. Nothing fancy, but we got a good price through Hotwire, and I would certainly stay here again.

Booked online, when we arrieved they tried to charge us more saying it is up to them to change price. When I refused to pay more they tried to make it up in a pet cost extra $40 a night (had a dog with me).
Very unclean, there was a puddle of pee on the bathroom floor called front desk was told to put a towel on it and put it out in the hall for house keeping.

Stayed at the Days Inn in South Portland for 2 nights the beginning of march. The reviews here made me hesitate about staying there, however a co-worker recommended the hotel, he had told me its cheap and clean, and he was correct. for 50.00 the room was spacious and clean! I also brought my dog, It was nice that they put our room near an exit so we could take the dog in and out without running into many people. I had booked a king size bed over the phone and had advised them that I was brining my dog, however upon checkin, they advised me that the only rooms they place people with dogs in were double bed rooms. Not a problem for us, the dog ended up sleeping on the other bed.

The downside was that we were next to the vending machines and could hear them running, and it would startle the dog from time to time but we adapted to that as we didn't want to relocate.

Hotel is close to several resturants, and stores, close to the I95 and 295, about 30 minutes from the Kittery Shopping outlets also 30 minutes in the opposite direction to Freeport which were the purpose of our trip (Shopping!), so we only spent the evenings in the hotel.

The breakfast in the morining was perfect to get you going, nice selection of doughnuts, bread, even eggo waffals. and a flat screen tv in the breakfast room to watch....staff was very friendly and also just to add it appears that they are currently renovating parts of the hotel but there was no noise from that.
