“Convenient location, paper-thin walls.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

One night stay. Room was clean, staff friendly, check-in/checkout smooth & easy. Kinda pricey for what you get. Breakfast standard, food fresh. Would stay again if back in the area.

The only real downside was that the walls were a bit thin. We went to bed kind of early, and could hear all the other guests coming and going pretty clearly. That seems to be pretty standard for hotels of this ilk (Comfort, Quality, Choice Hotels.)

We were disappointed in our stay. The price was high for what we got. The room was clean and the beds comfortable but pretty tight quarters. The bathroom was even smaller and we didn't care for having the sink outside of the bathroom - night time bathroom trips disrupted the other sleepers. The hotel provided only shampoo and lotion for toiletries, but no conditioner (I had to go out to buy some) and never replaced them, even though we stayed for 3 nights. The bathroom, although clean, was tired looking and the rest of the hotel looked like it could use some updating. The breakfast room was very tight as well. There was no pool, so our kids were disappointed. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was very convenient - easy to get in and out of Portland, as well as close to other attractions. Overall, although the hotel was clean and fairly comfortable, I don't think it's a great value.

My hotel reservation was made by a third party. Upon checking in and asking about the dining room, I was told that there was no restaurant and the closest restaurant was several miles away. I were told that I could call a cab or call for take out. There is no list of area restaurants nor menus for local restaurants in the room. The only option is to take a cab and trust the cab driver to take you to his favourite restaurant or pick one of the chains the cab driver suggests. The clerk at the desk mentioned ihop and Denny's.

The bed was comfortable and there was a little frig and a microwave.

The free wi-fi kicks out frequently and each time you try to get back in, you are forced to watch a commercial for Walmart. I finally gave up and sent my e-mails from the airport the next morning. The phone was an ancient model and you have to sit on a hard chair to carry on a conversation. They do have free long distance, if you need it.

As mentioned in another review, the very small bathroom does not have any space for your toiletries and even the little space on the sink is tilted so that, if you put a plastic glass on it, the glass with your toothbrush falls on the floor between the sink and the two or three inch space beside the bathtub. The bathtub was ancient with no bathmat for the tub, nothing to hang onto and a shiny surface on the bottom. Very scary for anyone but an athlete.

At a cost of $119.00 plus taxes, for a total of $127.33, I expected much better accommodation.

Room Tip: Use a different hotel.

We stayed two nights in early August and it was our first time at this hotel. We normally stay at the Econo Lodge when we visit South Portland but its not very "econo" anymore. We loved everything about this hotel. Great location, great service and a great room at a fair price. The only drawback was the pushy seniors at the breakfast. They aren't afraid to nudge you out of the way when they want something. But that is not the hotels fault. The breakfast is really good too by the way. We plan to stay here again when we return to South Portland. We visit twice a year.

Room Tip: We had a king size bed and it was very comfortable.

This hotel is a good value. It is not the fanciest place in town to stay, but it is reasonably priced. We booked the same evening of our arrival (on Priceline) and I think we got the very last room available. When we checked in the 2 people working the front desk were very friendly and polite. The woman was a bit embarrassed when she told us we were getting the "accessible" room. She said they have gotten complaints from non-disabled people in the past who are assigned this room. Our take on it - it was not a bad room, though it does have a couple of oddities. The main accommodation is, of course, the bathroom. Because the shower is designed for accessibility, it just has a handheld shower piece. The most odd part is the DOUBLE TOILET set up - one traditional toilet and one hospital-like portable toilet... (I called them "his and hers" but my husband didn't go for it... :) ) The sink set up was a little annoying in that there is NO room to put out your toiletries. The edges of the sink are tilted so even your toothbrush scoots itself off.
Other than the accessibility changes, the room was a regular old hotel room. It was a bit musty and the artwork is STRANGE - 3 of the same exact prints adorn the walls (all the same - all titled "Spring"). You would think if they were going for a "seasons" theme they would put 3 different seasons in the room, eh?
Location is good if you have a car - 8 minutes to the main restaurant area in Portland.

Firstly don't book online if you are driving here From out of state. You can look for coupon books at highway state welcome centers for much better rate. We looked online for place to stay near portland and was surprised to find everything so expensive. We finally booked this through Expedia for $120 a night but the coupon book would have been $80. If you call them directly you can get the same 120 rate but tell them you have a coupon and they will honor the coupon rate(assuming you have the coupon). The bed sheets were clean, pillows feels great. Bed was too soft. Room was small and bathroom was tiny but within expectation at this level of accommodation. Breakfast room too small when hotel is fully booked. Basic breakfast offered. Coffee is the worst and very watery.

Stayed here for one night after our flight from Florida. Desk personnel friendly and efficient. We had a room on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet. Room was decent but floors could have been cleaner. Pat in the breakfast room does a wonderful job - she certainly is exceptional. Overall a good stay at a good rate.
