“Don't Seek It”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

All of the hype I heard prior to this visit was about Haraseeket's Fish Chowder. Imagine my disappointment when I approached the window mid-afternoon on a not-so-busy August Monday only to find out they were all out of it. The clam chowder proved to be a lack-luster plan B. It was gloppy and slightly sour tasting (too long on the steam table?) - a perfect example of what I like to refer to as "tourist chowder." I can't vouch for any of this establishment's other offerings, but if they can't serve up a decent chowder, I'm hesitant to trust anything else. Too bad, because the location is quaint and casual, offering up a lovely view of an active waterfront.

“The Real Thing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

You cant beat fried clams (2 ways), lobster, whoopie pies and so much more, with the views of a working Maine waterfront. It delivers the real Maine atmosphere.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Our family was staying in Freeport, Maine for the week and we drove down to the harbor to try out this place. I ordered the lobster and my husband the fish and chips. The lobster was great: how can Maine FRESH lobster be otherwise? My husband's fish and chips were awful. The batter had no flavor and the meal was soggy all around: soggy breading, soggy fries. The coleslaw actually tasted rancid. I'm only giving an honest opinion here.

So here is my recommendation: if you go, only order the lobster plate. It will cost you about $22.00, but you get lobster, corn on the cob, butter and lemon. Don't order anything else.

Another suggestion: I heard from a local person at the grocery store: we should have went down highway 1 towards Yarmouth and ate at Day's Lobster and crabmeat stand. They said that it was where the locals ate at. Driving by and judging by the line, I'd agree.

“Hidden Treasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Located at the edge of South Freeport Harbor, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Freeport Outlets. Beautiful location, with hundreds of sailboats in view. Choice or indoor or outdoor dining, open for lunch and dinner. They do not serve beer or wine, but allow you to bring your own. Large selection of seafood dinners served many different ways, menu includes clams, shrimp, fish, scallops, crab cakes, chowder, sandwiches, burgers, chicken and a large selection of desserts. They also pack lobsters to go. Worth a try!

“Overpriced mediocre food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

The location is great but the food was mediocre. We came from central Massachusetts and have experienced way better seafood restaurants locally. The fried combo platter was mostly French fries, the scallops were okay but I would not recommend the clam strips. Would not recommend the fried food maybe the lobster is better?
