I have fond memories of the time my family lived in Seal Harbor, and the trips to the beach there. The town has suffered economically over the years, and the Lighthouse is one of the few businesses left in town. It is the only inn and restaurant in town, and is just a short walk to the town green and beach. And the parking lot for the beach is where the free Island Shuttle bus stops. We used one day to tour Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor travelling entirely on the free shuttles. The three 'efficiencies' that the inn has to offer are value-priced. We stayed in the Gold Room, which is the least expensive at $75/night in season, $45/night out of season. It is also the room most in need of updating, but was an acceptable homebase for our 3 day visit to Mt. Desert Island.
