Ok my wife and I really enjoyed our stay here, but in the wow can you believe hotel stays used to be like this, kind of way. It was only for one night and this places Quirkiness passed off as charm. I might not have felt the same after a few nights. Shared bathrooms, slamming doors, and no tv in our room might wear on me, but its proximity to the beach is great, (was told some rooms do have a tv).

This what going to the beach was like when I was a kid. No tv no ac but who cares! The inn is comfortable and the staff is very friendly. There is a great restaurant and a small bar as well. It is spotless and just down the street from the beach

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private bath

What a great stay. The young ladies working the desk were very nice and helpful. The view... WOW. And the fresh sea air...... The one full bath per floor may be a bit much for folks that do an extended stay. But is still a great place.

I recently was part of a group of high school friends enjoying an overnight at the beach -- the Inn staff was so welcoming and helpful, and the restaurant, Garofalo's, was outstanding. I would especially recommend the Inn for groups.

I have not stayed here for many years however do go to dinner and breakfast while I am on vacation at Higgins Beach. I recently had dinner with my daughter and enjoyed the food but pricey compared to what you can get in Portland. We ate outside which is always fun at night. It would have been nicer if perhaps there were lights under the umbrella so don't really know what I was eating but it was good! -1 tea light was not enough. The owners are rude. Both rarely speak or smile and honestly I'm surprised that they are able to keep any employees around.

Nice location, close to the Higgins Beach Market with their NY Times and home-made sugared chocolate donuts, but the room was cramped, and two people had to come to the room to make the bathroom lights work. The bed was comfortable, and the room (up two flights of steep stairs) was air-conditioned.

We have been coming here for 3 summers now and have greatly enjoyed Bob and Diane's gracious hosting and exquisite cooking at their on site restaurant. The guest rooms are nicely appointed and the inn staff make you feel at home. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable and to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The inn is located near major roads and highways which provides ready and easy access to explore the surrounding areas. Yes it is true the inn does not have air conditioning-we have not been uncomfortable once, even in this year's recent heat wave. The inn provides fans and has 2 lovely outdoor areas where you can enjoy a cold drink and a meal along with clean breezes. If you are expecting a modern hotel with all the modern conveniences ( air conditioning, 10 outlets in a room) that's not the inn. However, if you are looking for an inn that is immaculately clean and perfectly quiet at night, in a beach community, with gracious and personal hospitality, and country charm, do not pass Higgins Beach Inn up. The owners and staff are so wonderful, it makes us sad to leave each year.
