“Great quiet getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

The Lighthouse Inn is a great way to get away from the rat-race of every day life. All rooms have an ocean view with direct access to the beach. Air conditioning is not needed because of the pleasant ocean breezes. The nearby area has numerous restaurants and shops. Portland ME is only 15 minutes away with more great restaurants and shops.
A free continental breakfast is available but right across the street a restaurant is open for breakfast with very good food.

Our family accidently yet luckily discovered the Lighthouse Inn in Scarborough! A step back in time is a good thing. The immaculate property/rooms and decor of yesteryear coupled with the lovely service was more like a family vacation of the past. We made great memories in our family stay and would go back next year without a hesitation. We were at first concerend about not having air conditioning however the beautiful ocean breeze and ceiling fans were all we needed even with 90 degree days! This 2 generation family owned business made us feel so welcome! Being a stones throw to the ocean made it so much fun!

This is an idyllic little spot. What a fantastic setting! We found the people at reception very friendly & helpful. Room slightly outdated but relatively clean (was a little staining on bedspread). We were on ground floor which was fine. No air-con not a problem, even in July. Having the beach so near is a definite plus. Breakfast was fine - coffee, fruit, muffins, coffee. Had breakfast at little seating area beside beach. All in all would go back but feel it was a little overpriced.

We arrived on a Friday for a 5-day trip through New England and this was our first stop. The location was absolutely outstanding - right on the water with a BEAUTIFUL beach in front of us. That being said, the motel was right out of the 60s - tired old decor, bedding, etc. It was clean, but in much need of updating, especially considering the price ($160 per room). As long as you are prepared for the premium you'll pay for the location, and the trip back in time when you enter the rooms, you'll have a good stay. Next time I'm up that way, I'll look elsewhere for better value.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

We discovered this delightful spot last summer and returned again for the 4th of July, 2012. Conveniently located a short drive from Portland, the Lighthouse Inn is nestled in a residential (read quiet and peaceful) neighborhood, right on the beach. The building is oriented such that virtually every room on the second floor has an ocean view from the balcony. The decor is quaint, reminiscent of roadside motor courts of the sixties and seventies, a little kitchy but welcome and inviting to anyone who traveled with the family "back in the day." The rooms are immaculate, spacious and comfortable. The sea breeze brings in the pleasant ocean smells that change with the tide. Expansive beaches for walking, swimming or sun-bathing lie just beyond the gate and over the dunes. The entire property is clean and well-tended. If you are looking for chain hotel or the latest decor, this is not for you, but if you are looking for ocean breezes, a view, a quiet setting, a clean, spacious room and a good bed, you can't beat the Lighthouse Inn. I hesitate to write this because I don't want to let out the secret, but this is real find! I heartily recommend the Lighthouse Inn at Pine Point.

Room Tip: Second floor has great ocean views!

I've been coming to this area for years. It's a short drive from Montreal. I came down for the holiday weekend. Most of the hotels I usually stay at where booked so I drove down 2 miles north of 0ld Orchard and found this gem. This place was spotlessly cleaned, quaint and comfortable with a fantastic view in a quiet area. I'll definitely stay here again!
