We had planned to dine at the Chef & the Gardener for some time, and finally made it on a Tuesday evening, which seems to be a quiet night there, as there was only one other diner. As might be expected under the circumstances, the service was excellent. The server was engaging, and obviously proud of the food. The wine list was very good. We ordered the chicken Marsala, (one of the specials of the day), which was very good. The sauce was appropriately salted, and tasty. The root vegetable blend, was also very good, and was enjoyed by a diner who isn't ordinarily enthusiastic about this type of vegetable. The roasted turkey with cranberries was a little less successful, because the cranberries were unsweetened, and a little too sour for the diner's taste. Unfortunately, the turkey had some unexpected gristle. On request, the server brought us a sample of a quinoa tabouli, which was very tasty. We're looking forward to future visits to this local restaurant.
