“beyond expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

This was our first trip to Maine and we are still relatively new to the camping scene. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Staff all friendly, say hello, and are generally all-around helpful. We ordered pizza at the merry moose café and they delivered it to our site. we also are breakfast there too. Waffles and blueberry pancakes: Yummy! The kids enjoyed the activities such as tie-dye shirts and scavenger hunt. The sites were clean and the washrooms were very clean. The trolley ride to the beach was convenient and inexpensive ($1 per person). beats trying to find parking spot. we had great weather except mother nature decided to throw an thundershower on evening and there we large puddles everywhere, but quickly drained when the rain stopped. My only concern was the children's play structure was the first thing when driving onto the lot. It was fenced in but as a parent, you can help but notice. Also NO mosquitoes! For sure, we will return.

Camped here in an RV on June 9, 2013. We have stayed at a lot of campgrounds but this was one of the cleanest and nicest! Nice personal touch - EVERY person we dealt with went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying our stay. Like another reviewer, we grew tired of the astronomical prices at the other "resort" campgrounds in/around OOB. This place has everything you need, the location is great and the price was right. Don't think, just book it - you will not be disappointed.

Had a wonderful time at KAO Saco. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Store is open till 10 pm which is rate in most of the campgrounds I have been too. The place was spotless. We didn't eat at the Merry Moose, but heard from our neighbors that the food was wonderful. The only thing which disappointed me was the gravel sites. I understand with the tall trees, but we were constantly having to clean the sand and twigs out of our travel trailer

We always enjoy our stay at this campground. The owners and staff are very nice to deal with or at least they were till the weekend of september 2nd. We were spoken to by a staff member (Dave) about our campfire popping....really ? He patroled the area a little to harsh taking basketballs from the kids in the middle of their game saying "it's late enough" and frankly..I miss the hello's we used to get from the passing staff members. This doesn't apply to all as Curt and his wife Ruth are a joy as are the rest of the crew. There are just a couple of sour pusses in the mix that make all the difference. Relax Dave !!!!!

My husband, 3 small dogs & a parrot stayed here for the first time, Aug. 18 to Aug. 25, 2012. We have a 38' motorhome and found our full-service site to be perfect. The staff is super friendly and completely accommodating. The park is VERY clean and we enjoyed the fenced in dog park. Nice touch! Had fun doing kid activities although we are adults :-). The trolley system is SUPERB! Dirt cheap ($1 per person each way)...no pets allowed on it but you can bring ALL your beach gear including coolers, floats, boogie boards, etc. We trolleyed to Old Orchard Beach each morning for an hour's stroll in the surf and then had a nice lunch on The Pier. The trolley goes to a couple nearby amusement and water parks and will even drop you at the IMAX cinema theater :-) We are already planning next year's vaca at this KOA but want to extend it to two weeks. THANK YOU to KOA Saco/Old Orchard Beach and our trolley driver, Chuck! It was our Best vaca this year.
