“Comfortable, friendly, with a superior breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2011

I have occasion to stay in Rockland, Maine from time to time throughout the year, and am very glad I discovered the Captain Lindsey House Inn. The Inn is comfortable and even a bit indulgent without being overly fussy or fancy. The cooked-to-order hot breakfasts are a real treat, the beds are luxurious and the coffee is much better than in chain motels. Rooms are immaculate, Internet is reliable, and the pub next door isn't bad either. I have returned several times and am happy to be an off-season regular when I have business in the area.

This is a wonderful place to visit. An historic building in a marvelous town. Our hosts, Ken and Ellen Barnes were wonderful hosts with great stories to share. We love bed and breakfasts and the Captain Lindsey House is a great place to visit.

This lovely bed & breakfast is conveniently located off of Main Street in Rockland, ME. It is walking distance to restaurants, shops, the Farnsworth museum and the cool waters of coastal Maine. It's perfect for business or vacation travel. You will find that it is your home away from home providing you with all of the comforts you're used to - comfy beds, soothing music, bathroom amenities, breakfast with fresh fruits, juices and made-to-order eggs or waffles. In the evenings you're welcomed back with a nice treat of homemade cookies or cheese with fresh fruit. You can enjoy a brandy by the fireplace or sit outside by the patio and read a book from the vast library. You will feel right at home.

Charming inn in the center of Rockland. Ken and Ellen were delightful hosts. Walking distance to shops, art galleries, lighthouse museum, excellent restaurants. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts. We would return.

Stayed at the Lindsey House this last weekend and what a lovely time we had. The warmth and graciousness of the Inn and staff will truly bring us back. We went to see great Theater in Rockport with a production put on by Every Mans Theater, a gem yet to be discovered. The pick of so many great Restaurants in the area is overwhelming but decided on Shepard's Pie in Rockport ....so good. Then to return to our warm beautiful rooms decorated with rich colors and sophisticated touch. There are no "few few" dolls or cheep lace here you truely feel as if you are stepping into a Captains house who has traveled the world.

Working with the manager to arrange our stay was a breeze. She responded quickly and gave thorough responses. Breakfasts were simply but delicious. The rooms were furnished nicely and the beds were super comfortable. We had a room with a (electronic) fireplace and were given a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant as part of our lodging package. It is easy to walk from the B&B to the downtown area, though we imagined parking could get tricky during the busier months.

This isn't your usual banana and cereal bed and breakfast, its home! From the minute you enter this lovely inn you feel like you've just come home from long and far away. From the welcoming of the staff to the friendly living room and cozy rooms it's an environment of total relaxation. Wake up to smiles and a hearty breakfast of homemade pancakes, thick farmers bacon and the smell of fresh brewed coffee; what a way to start your day. This is absolutely one of the most comfortable inns I have ever stayed in. The owners and staff are totally accommodating and I would highly recommend the Capt. Lindsey House Inn.
