What a lovely location! You can walk everywhere from this renovated Victorian -- just a few blocks in one direction is the harbor. Go the other way and you are entering the downtown area with the Farnsworth Museum and the Wyeth Center, and wonderful restaurants from Italian restaurants, lobster shacks to seafood specialists... The famous Primo gourmet restaurant is nearby, and the Transportation Museum is just a few miles down the road. Yet Ripples is on a quiet street, with a large porch perfect for sipping wine and the evening breezes while sitting in cozy rattan armchairs..
Innkeeper Sandi Dillon is a friendly and gracious host, and a good cook. it wasn't cool enough for a fire in the fireplace in the parlor while we were there, but what a beautiful room! And we found fun and lively conversation at the dining room table over pancakes and blueberries, and Greek yogurt with honey.
Ripples is immaculate, has wonderfully comfortable beds, and private baths in every room. The rooms are generally somewhat larger than in many B&B's, with decor varying from "beachy" to romantic. And upstairs there's a common room with a PC, Microwave, TV, and other modern creature comforts.
There's off-street parking, too, and Ripples is a well-located base for exploring up and down the coast, or to take a day tour to Monhegan or another of the islands, or to look for Puffins or whales.
Ripples is a place to come back to again and again.
