First, the bagels, at best, are mediocre; some are poor (depends on the variety selected). Moreover, they are expensive--if a New York Metro bagel, delicious and made on premises, is priced at less than a dollar, why would a lower-cost establishment in Maine think that $1.25 is appropriate? Finally, the last insult this morning when I went was the charge for slicing the bagels! On the positive side, while their bagels are not particularly good, they do have fairly good lo-fat veggie cream cheese. A positive, to be sure, but not enough to make it a worthwhile stop. So, out-of-towners from metro areas of country, don't expect more than you'll get here. Locals, next time you have a chance buy some somewhere else, then slice and freeze them. Subsequently, when they are toasted they'll be better than Hole in the Wall. It is troubling that I feel compelled to write this as I am a local and, where possible, prefer to support local merchants. Sometimes, though, they don't do their part.
