“Nothing special”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2009

Atlantic Bakery, as the name suggests, is primarily a bakery with a limited number of tables where you may eat sandwiches made on the premises. The "decor" is bland and offers nothing of interest except the view of people passing outside.

The bakery's breads are of mixed quality. They make a nice white bread and a good raisin nut bread (usually available only on Friday). Their sourdough is mediocre, and their multigrain is dry and kind of tasteless. Sandwiches vary in quality but all have fatty, gristly, skimpy and unappetizing cold cuts and minimal condiments which add nothing. I have tried all their sandwiches and not found one I could recommend. They offer a few salads, all of which are unexceptional in every way.

Service at the counter is reasonably fast, and sandwiches are pre-prepared, so if you're really in a hurry, you can get in and out faster than most places downtown - other than that, there's little to recommend.

“Amazing, great atmosphere!”

This bakery is the bomb!
There is a HUGE window looking out into their immaculate kitchen. You can see everything they are doing back there. The crew is always laughing!!! Happy crew equals happy food, therefore happy customers. Which I am.
I had one of their chocolate almond bear claws, and let me tell you...wow. The best ever. I haven't even had a better croissant in Europe!!!
Their croissants are made from scratch, right on the premises...every day! and apparently is the process!!!
The price of such items is no longer an issue to me...seeing how much the crew goes through to make them. and understanding the rising prices of ingredients these days. Heck, $3 for a GIANT croissant, is a total steal!!!

I would highly recommend this place for anyone.

*at least 10 kinds of croissants
*three diff muffins every day
*two diff scones everyday
*quiche, focaccia, sandwiches, paninis, salads
*SOUP to die for
*five diff flavors of cookies everyday
*raspberry bars
*awesome macaroons!
*fresh granola and granola bars
*COFFEE by coffee by design out of Portland
*lattes, cappacinos, espressos.

GO THERE NOW!!!!

Phenomenal sandwiches, fresh breads and pastries every day, i wouldn't recommend another bakery in town. a bit pricey, but worth it if you know what you're paying for. great place to have a healthy meal, pick up great bread for a party, or just to grab a quick snack. i love the place, and have 2 demi baguettes in my house right now, purchased from the Atlantic Baking Co stand at the farmers market on thursday :)

“Best Bread & Pastries Around”

Great bakery/deli/cafe. They definitely have the best baguette north of Standard Baking Co. in Portland.

Great selection of pastries and sandwiches for lunch. And the coffee comes from Coffee By Design in Portland...a very good brew.

Thumbs up.
