Whenever we have guests in town, the Cliff Walk on Prouts Neck is often a destination. Spectacular views of rugged coast and an opportunity to walk out on the rocks and see where Winslow Homer got a lot of inspiration. The end of the walk goes right in front of Winslow Homer's studio (contact Portland Museum of Art for tour information) which is has recently been restored.
We like going after a storm as the waves are usually huge. The photo I've attached was after Superstorm Sandy and the water was very high, even though it was not high tide.
Park at Scarborough Beach and walk the beach down to the old pump house and scramble up the rocks to the walk. You can then return on the road for more views to Pine Point.
