“Excellent walk and views no matter the season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Whenever we have guests in town, the Cliff Walk on Prouts Neck is often a destination. Spectacular views of rugged coast and an opportunity to walk out on the rocks and see where Winslow Homer got a lot of inspiration. The end of the walk goes right in front of Winslow Homer's studio (contact Portland Museum of Art for tour information) which is has recently been restored.

We like going after a storm as the waves are usually huge. The photo I've attached was after Superstorm Sandy and the water was very high, even though it was not high tide.

Park at Scarborough Beach and walk the beach down to the old pump house and scramble up the rocks to the walk. You can then return on the road for more views to Pine Point.

Wear good sneakers , bring a camera, & enjoy the scenery. ..it's an hour walk, the conditions can be muddy in the spring, watch your footing too.

“other places to park.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

for a longer walk parking can be made at ferry beach parking lot. walk the beach to the left, around the point you can see Black Point Inn. follow the beach to a boardwalk across the street from the inn. at the main road cross the street and go around the gate on the road to the left. follow this road to the trailhead around the corner. at the end of the cliff walk follow the paved road back to the inn and retrace your steps down the beach to your vehicle.

Harder trail than advertised. Some spectacular views. Difficult to do a loop. Wear good walking shoes.
