“good for kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We have taken our grandchildren several times and they always have a good time. You can fly a kite or attend a civil war enactment. The fort is just fun to explore

Iv'e been here a few times, and each time is very enjoyable. Great for the kids. Lots of walking, so wear comfortable shoes!. . . and bring a flashlight!

“Excellent Fort Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

We have been to Fort Knox a few times. We highly recommend the Pirate Festival! Lots of fun for all ages. If you want to get the best experience touring the inside of the fort, wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight, as some areas can be fairly dark. Check out the fort's website for various special events scheduled throughout the year. While at the fort, be sure to go to the top of the Penobscot Narrows observation bridge (via elevator). Awesome views from the top!

“A Historical surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

While driving back from Bar Harbor we stumbled across this Civil War era fortification. Paying our five dollars we walked through it. It is still in good shape and has not turned too "touristy" They were preparing the fort for a Halloween fundraiser titled "Fright at the Fort" so we got to see there haunted house preparations.
