“Helpful, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

My boyfriend and I were looking for a hotel near downtown. This hotel is not within walking distance from downtown, but it is close enough if you have a car.
The staff was pretty friendly and helpful. They gave us a map and told us what were the best beaches to visit.
The room was clean, but it had a faint cigarette smoke smell, which is weird because that was a non smoking room. That was not unbearable and we decided not to complain.
The hotel is a little old. They had some construction going on on the first floor and the wall paper was peeling off in some places.
The breakfast was good.
Overall a not fancy, nice enough hotel if you are not too picky. I would stay over again.

After reading some of the reviews, I was apprehensive about our stay here. However, it was delightful. Pleasant staff, comfy mattress and furniture, clean room, plenty of hot water, great breakfast, nice pool and amenities. A true value for the money!

Room Tip: Room was on the 2nd floor. Elevator is slow - but staircase is two small flights up. Even had wash...

Happened upon this hotel when we plugged in a "name your price" on Priceline. Have to say, we were pleased. Convenient t to the highways. Very clean. Non-smoking. Rooms were immaculate. Nice indoor pool available. They offered a breakfast buffet for a reasonable price (maybe $8.95) but we didn't take advantage. Upon arrival there were samovars of lemonade and iced tea and a bug basket of fresh apples. Staff were courteous and suggested many great attractions and dining.

Room Tip: Not a five star but very clean and perfect for a night or two stay!

I really did not like this motel. It was old, dingy, and desperately in need of a face lift. We stayed here for 2 nights on June 28-30, 2013 and will not be back. I can't think of anything redeeming to say about this motel, and the location is not great either. With so many choices in Portland, I'd recommend that you stay elsewhere.

We booked via Priceline and we were hoping it would be better than the reviews. We resolved to make the best of it. The hotel looked better on the outside than the pictures, that made us feel better. The gentleman at check-in was super friendly and the lobby looked great.

The hallway on our floor smelled musty and old. It was dingy and a new carpet would probably fix 70% of the problem. The room smelled just as bad, the first thing I noticed was the burned iron mark on the carpet, then I noticed that the carpet probably hadn't been vaccumed. The windows were streaked...but that's a sign that someone had tried to clean them right? There was no hotel info package, no info on the restaurant, pool, local delivery, miscellaneous services, nothing. On the up side, the bathroom seemed clean and the the counters and table tops seemed clean, and the bedding was in good shape. Since we'd already paid and Priceline is non-refundable we decided to make the most of it.

The next morning I asked the front desk for a copy of the missing info. She was completely confused and said that she didn't know where anything was since she didn't normally work the desk. She did not offer to find someone to help. Then the breakfast buffet had a huge sign that said "wait to be seated" so we waited, and waited while the two wait staff saw us but didn't bother to acnowledge us. The food was underwhelming, the next day we went to Becky's Diner which for the same price was so much better.

Meanwhile, back in the room we got in the shower and noticed too late that the shower curtain was full of black mould on the inside, and the grout was also mouldy in places. Finally on our last day we noticed that there was mould in one of the corners as well.

Also troubling was the lack of security on the side doors. There was no key card entry on the door...anyone could walk in and out unnoticed during the day. The sign said management locks the door after ten at night but I never tested it.

The only good thing I have to say, and it's only because I'm trying to be generous, was that housekeeping came in every day and cleaned the surfaces and bathroom and emptied the garbage. They met the minimum standard. Everything else....was a bust.

The owner needs to spring for some new carpet, a security lock on the side doors, some new shower curtains, and bathroom ventillation so the steam doesn't promote mould growth.

I would not go back.

Room Tip: Drive north twenty minutes and stay in Freeport, likely same price but better hotels. Just guessing...

Thank you for making the time to share your experience Briston.

I have shared your positive comments with the front desk and housekeeping staff. We appreciate your feedback on the condition of your room and the hallways and are working on a capital plan to correct some of these deficiencies. Additionally, our guest directories are being reprinted and will be back in the rooms shortly.

We value your business and our continued partnership with Priceline and hope to have an opportunity to serve you again.

This was another overnight stay and we got this hotel through a Priceline deal. Upon arrival we were a bit sceptical the exterior looks old and worn and when walking through the foyer first impression was that it was dirty due to crushed hips in the carpet which had not been cleaned up.
once we got to reception we found the service brilliant. Reception was friendly helpful and informative. Having arrived late we enquirer about restaurant facilities and found out that the kitchen closed in half an hour. Instead
of going out for dinner after driving all day "Shawn our bar tender sat us at the bar and we were able to order meals (they were really good) along with some great drinks before the kitchen closed. Our room was better then expected it was clean and very comfortable the king size bed was also comfortable. Our only advise would be not to be put off by the exterior as this place was a gem to stay in made particularly memorable by the service and attention given by its staff,
