My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in between a few nights in Boston and a couple of nights in the Mount Washington area. It is a typical chain hotel, convenient to the freeway and a shopping center with restaurants. At a lower price I would have been completely happy with it, but since it was the height of fall foilage season the price was probably higher than at other times and I thought what we paid was a little high for what we got. I have no complaints and no particular praises. The bathroom was small, as is typical with most hotel chains, but the room was comfortable.

Was a great launching off place for access to Portland and to the Maine Coast. The kids loved the heated pool and the free breakfast. Had a great stay

it was saturday september 26 2009 myself and a few friends were meeting up with other friends from out of state. we met up in the lobby because friends were staying at different ends of the hotel. we all entered the pub (8:42 p.m.) together paying i believe $3 or $4.00 each. we sat at a table right in front of the band and i noticed a few others sitting across from us so i went over and was having a conversation with these people when the waitress came over with a drink (long island ice tea) which i assumed someone at my table had ordered for myself. (this was my first drink of the evening) not a bad drink, so one of my friends wanted to step outside for a smoke so i accompanied them to the pool area located just outside the pub....upon finishing up outside my friend and i went back to the pub only to be confronted and accused of "flipping" off the waitress and was not allowed to enter the pub area, after talking with the 2 men i assured them that neither of us ever flipped off any waitress/patron or anyone else in the pub, thats just insane, i asked to confront this waitress however this was not permitted, i also asked to speak with a manager however this was not allowed either. the men at the entry to the pub handed me $3.00 or $4.00 and asked me to leave. as i am one who has nothing but respect for people, owning several businesses myself, i gathered my friends and we all left and went to a place located just off rt 25 in westbrook called "proffeno's" as we sat there we added up the cost of a frivilous accusation there were 18 of us at $3.00 each to enter the pub at the holiday inn. each one of us bought a drink ranging from $4.75-$11.00 so the average drink was $7.50 so $54.00 + $135.00=$189.00 i'm writing this not because of the money we lost(as no one in my group even came close to finishing there drink) but the fact that just because a waitress didn't get a big enough tip or whatever her motive that the holiday inn gives her the ability to dispose of paying customers at will with a simple accusation of "flipping her off. "SHAME ON YOU HOLIDAY INN WEST IN PORTLAND MAINE FOR PUTTING YOUR CUSTOMERS SECOND" the sad part about this is the holiday inn has no idea how much revenue they sent out that door saturday evening....29 years i've been staying at the holiday inn/holiday inn express from the east coast to the west coast. of the 18 or so people in our group more than half were staying at the hotel. you have tainted your reputation and the accusations of the waitress are bitterly false. i'm sure there are cameras in the pub. thank you, 19 very un-happy customers.

Stayed here two nights over the course of a week traveling. Hotel is convenient right off Exit 48 on I-95. Hotel seems a bit old, but was clean and the front desk very helpful. We were able to check in earlier than we thought possible. Stayed in rooms 101 and 109. Beds were comfortable, room was clean but dated. Small refrigerator and coffee maker. They have a restaurant on the premises. Breakfast not included with our room. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night, it was just okay. Hotel is located very near a small shopping mall, and getting to the harbor area is not difficult. They offer a pillow menu but don't like it if you ask for more than two pillows, which we did due to a sleeping disorder. The regular pillows were adequate but a bit small. Overall, we would consider staying here again. Early morning traffic can be a bit noisy if staying on the East side of the hotel, as the ramp to I-95 is right next to the hotel.
