We stayed at Wild Iris on the first day it was run by new owners Jake and Tim. Wow, were we in good hands. They were over the top in kindness, care, attentiveness, intelligence, thoughtfulness and, so importantly, gourmet / healthy cooking skills ! (I am still dreaming of that pot of slow-cooked, steel cut oats with walnuts, apples, cinnamon ..... ). It was a great comfort to stay in an inn where all wear nice clean slippers, (provided by the inn of course), so neither street shoes nor any toxic cleaning chemicals ever touched any of the floors or any other part of the rooms. And the location is perfect: we walked easily to the State Theater for our concert, to Old Port for our boutique shopping, and to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods for our snacks ! Add to that the most reasonable prices around, and this place is now 'our place' every time we pass through Portland.
