We decided it was time to try Portland’s food truck scene and since we love Mexican food, we checked out El Corazon. We each started with a carnitas taco, then shared an order of taquitos (one of each flavor: chicken, shredded beef, and potato & cheese), and a Baja fish burrito.
The perfectly braised carnitas were so good that it was hard to imagine anything topping them – but indeed the other items were even more delicious! The fish burrito was superlative and couldn’t have been any better; the creamy salsa put it over the top. The taquitos, topped with guacamole, sour cream, and cheese, were the best we’ve ever had. In fact, even though we were stuffed by now, we had to get another order. We still need to try the bacon-wrapped Sonoran hot dog – though it will be hard to resist getting repeats of our original order when we return.
El Corazon had some refreshing-sounding drink selections, too, though we tried it on a day they were parked at the Rising Tide Brewery and were able to have one of its beers. According to the schedule on their web site, the truck is often found at Spring and Temple Streets. El Corazon is definitely worth seeking out. The food is phenomenal, the owners are friendly, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality you get.
