“Recipe for a price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

About a year ago we went to SEA 40 in Lewiston. Loved it! Everyone we bumped into after told us Fuji's was way better. Fast forward to now.. We went last night! We made a reservation because it, I guess, can be quite busy. This Friday, had we had a crystal ball, we wouldn't have needed a reservation. It was quiet. Well, except for our table! We were the atmosphere. It was my friend's "21st" (okay 33rd) birthday so we were celebrating up a storm! Our chef was equally willing to join in the fun! The food was good...I had steak and shrimp...mmmm! He cooked it perfectly! If I was to compare it to SEA 40, I actually the vibe better at SEA 40. The location in Portland is better, personally speaking, because after eating it Fuji's you can stroll downtown. The price was more in Portland, but the food between the two are equal. Someone told me I should try Kon something??? I would definitely go to Fuji's again, but be ready to have fun because you and your cook are your night's entertainment AND there's nothing wrong with that!

We took our two boys, ages 15 and 11 to Fuji. We had gone to a similar restaurant at Epcot and the family really enjoyed it. This experience did not disappoint either. Our chef was personable and friendly and t If youhe food was fabulous! If you are in the area, this is a must do!

“Excellent Japanese restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

When on holiday abroad, we like to try local food, and alternate it with Thai or Japanese when that's available. We ended up eating at literally hundreds of Japanese during the past years.
This wonderful place in Portland is among the very best. An attractive location, nice interior, good service and a wide choice of delicacies, reasonable prices. We tried the "Box" menu. Mmmmm :)

After lunch, I had an excellent haircut at Ben's Old Port Barber Shop across the street. That too, was a very pleasurable experience. Good barber, nice chat.

“Excellent food on a cold Maine evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

After exploring the Portland port area streets on a recent very cold winter late afternoon, we stopped into Fuji, a recommendation of the hotel staff where we were staying. It was warm and comfortable inside, much welcomed by us! We each had a Japanese style "Box" meal, which included a variety of items, all tasty and perfectly prepared. We were able to manage pretty well with the provided chopsticks, but we were also given forks. Although we didn't avail ourselves of them, downstairs there are hibachi tables. Because we were there early in the dinner hour, there were few diners when we arrived. However, the place was filling up when we left. The meal was generous, nicely presented, and reasonably priced. This was a good choice for us.

I and my family enjoy the Hibachi area downstairs. We go for many special occassions. Consistent good experience.
