“Professional and perfect restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Consistently perfect in food presentation and service. The seasonal menu has very interesting pairings of fresh local Maine food with satisfying portions. The service is professional and friendly. Even if the small seating area is filled the bar meal is just as good with the added bonus of a floor show,if you want to watch, of the kitchen grill and bar mixing scene.
We were given a complimentary silver basket of truffle scented popcorn as we were at the bar.
I wouldn't go here for a romantic dinner but I would go here for a delicious dinner which will leave you feeling full and worth the price

“Best steak I have ever had.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

The food here was excellent, the location is not but do not miss it. My wife and I walked there (about 15 mins) from downtown Portland, with hindsight I would have taken a taxi. Reservations are a must as this place is very popular and gets busy.

“Highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

The neighborhood is not good so go during the early dinner hour. That said, do not miss this excellent, destination restaurant. Just ten minutes from downtown Portland.
The service is nothing less than fantastic. The food is absolutely superb, from the small tasting to the surprise ending.
Highly, highly recommended.

“Good food....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Visited this place due to the trip advisor reviews and must say, the food is good. Maybe our expectations were a bit high considering the reviews, but we didn't leave with thinking this was fantastic. We will definitely try it again. Service was good and overall we were pleased, thus the 4 star rate.

“Thanks Tripadvisor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Before heading to Portland I did some homework and saw the great Tripadvisor reviews for Back Bay Grill. We made a reservation (how old fashioned..by phone!), and pulling up almost decided not to stop. It is not in the best of neighborhoods but we decided to give it the ole' college try. What a great decision. From the moment we stepped thru the doors (with stunning asparagus hardware) we felt transported to Paris, but with better food! The menu was interesting, fresh, and had something for everyone. My husband thought the steak tartare was the second best he had eaten in his life, and my lobster ravioli packed a lot of flavor into those small pockets of dough. My husband's filet with gorgonzola sauce was rich, perfectly cooked and truly delicious. My lamb 2 ways also delicious and creative. The sides could be a little more interesting, but this restaurant is not trying to impress anyone with frivolity. Shame on the folks that went in t-shirts -- this is a first class place and should be treated with the same respect that they give their customers. I should note that after seeing a bit of Portland after we were grateful that we found this place. Much of Portland's restaurant scene seems to be geared to the college crowd. Enough said. Thumbs up!
