“Best Hampton Inn in their chain.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Yes it's expensive for a Hampton Inn but the service and property are just as good if not better than some of the other downtown chic hotels. The location is a 10, valet parking makes it a breeze to drive out to different sites. We recommend requesting the suite, it comfortably accommodates a family of four .

Stayed here with 2 friends. Had a room with 2 queen beds. Room was a decent size and clean. Bed very comfortable. A little pricey for a Hampton Inn but they seem to base pricing on location. After all, this is a chain hotel and there is nothing extra special about the rooms but they are clean and comfortable. Amenities seem to be about the same at most Hampton Inns but price seems to increase depending where you are. If you want a good breakfast I'd suggest finding a local restaurant. They include a continental breakfast but its nothing to write home about, which I find is the same at all Hampton Inns. I usually stick to the packaged foods (yogurt, cereal, etc).

This isn't a 5-star hotel loaded with amenities and luxuries -- but, it is an above-average hotel in an outstanding location with a friendly helpful staff. We stayed for two nights and were able to walk to most of what we wanted to do within Portland. It's easy on-and-off from the highway but still in the heart of the old port. Our room and the common areas of the hotel were clean and modern. Everyone we interacted with, from the valet to cleaning crews, were friendly and hospitable.

For the price, in other areas you might get a more luxurious or unique experience, but here you're really paying for the location. It's great that you also get a clean, modern, friendly hotel as well.

My husband and I came up to Portland for our honeymoon! We loved that the hotel is literally blocks away from everything you would wanna do. Tons of bars, restaurants, shops, ferries etc. The customer service here is phenomenal and the rooms are comfortable and very clean! We highly recommend this hotel !!! We took the shuttle and the shuttle driver was very easy to talk to and polite. The front desk accommodated to our needs.

Room Tip: 526 awesome view of city

I stayed one night in Portland, ME, and the hotel was perfectly located to get a feel for the city. Hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants along the harbor. Everyone was very friendly and accomodating. The hotel rooms were clean and nicely furnished. My only problem was the price. I thought it was too expensive especially with having to pay for the valet parking. The bed was great...pillows not so much.

This hotel is in great location. It's walking distance from tons of restaurants and shops. When we got there we were greeted by friendly valet guy. The lobby of the hotel is just basic. The hotel staffs seem friendly. Our room was just a basic hotel room with parking lot view. Our room was clean. The bed was not too bad but the pillows are terrible. It goes flat when you lay on them. We had requested a crib for our 16 months old and they deliver the crib to our room unassembled. We had to assembled it ourselves. Luckily, it wasn't too complicated. The hotel came with free breakfast. They served some scrambled eggs, bacons, some pastries, and waffle station. The eggs and bacons are just Ok. The pastries was pretty bad as they seem pretty soggy including the muffins. For $300 a night, we were expecting a better food and room. The great thing about the hotel is the indoor pool which is kind of nice so it can be used year round. Overall, the hotel staffs are very friendly but the hotel room itself was just OK. I guess it won't be too bad if we got a great deal for the hotel cost but for the amount of money that we paid, it wasn't worth it.

The Hampton Inn is only 2 years old, and it is a clean, modern and comfortable hotel. The location is excellent:It is a short walk from the water front and the Eastern Promenade, and less than 1mile from I-295. The service was friendly and attentive, and rooms come with a free breakfast too.
