“Great for Business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

New property. Quick and courteous check-in. Valet parking required with a 15$ /night fee which seems unnecessary. There seems to be plenty of parking in a relatively secure location. Its a pretty quite part of downtown. I don't like having valet service forced on me.

Moving on. Rooms were typical Hampton Inn and in great shape. TV changed channels quickly (a pet peeve) and came in clear. Internet speeds were great! Never had a slow down in browsing even during time periods which tend to be slow due to "recreational activities." No VPN drops either.

Nice bar attached to the hotel. Watched a game there and met a few locals. Solid drinks, decent beer selection too.

I'd stay again if work takes me that direction.

This was the nicest Hampton Inn I ever stayed at. Seems fairly new. The service was excellent from the valet to the front desk to the breakfast service. Everyone was always kind and helpful, answering all of our questions with a smile. They had a shuttle van that took us where ever we needed to go in town. This was esp. great since it was a very cold and windy weekend.
Our room was neat and clean with a king size bed, cozy down duvets, good fluffy towels and a great shower. Room temp control is also very good.
Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn breakfast but they have a nice fireplace in the breakfast area which is cozy.
The only downside at this Hampton Inn is the $15/day valet charge to park your car. No other choice unless you street park which is not easy in the area.
This is a great little city to visit with some wonderful restaurants and things to do.
We will stay here again.

This is a step up from the usual business/ travel hotel. It has large rooms, heat you can actually control, and views of the harbor (ask for one of these rooms with a view.) The breakfast and morning papers in the lobby were welcome, although the food and coffee were only OK. The place was full over the weekend and our room did not get made up until around 4 PM after we returned for the day, and that effected my rating. The desk staff were extremely helpful as were the valet staff, and the location would be difficult to beat as it is right in the midst of things with the busyness outside, not inside, which was serene.

Just one overnight in this very nice hotel, but worth a review. Our room with king bed lacked nothing for amenities in a hotel at this price point. Excellent shower and plenty of fluffy towels.
Service was gracious and a spontaneous volunteering of the shuttle van to drive us to and from a breakfast spot across town was over the top in customer care. Although the first floor restaurant was not owned by the hotel, it provided excellent food and a wide selection of craft beers for our discriminating friends who had joined us for the weekend. Valet parking a plus, as well. We will be back in Portland and most likely will return to this Hampton Inn property.

Visited after reading several reviews so we were not surprised by the Valet charge (as some have noted). From past experience with parking in Portland, we found the charge to be more than offset by the super accommodating shuttle service. Very promptly got to and from restaurants. The restaurant semi attached in a branch of Sebago Brewing which was a pleasant surprise for us. Good food and very good beer. The hotel was clean, the staff great and overall our stay was very pleasant and a good value for the money. We will return.

We stayed for a weekend recently for our first time at this property. We had a nice large suite with a great view of the waterfront (an upgrade from points). We sat and watched the ferry's come in and out and an occasional tug boat. This hotel is perfect for families. We are an adult couple who were in Portland visiting our adult children; so there were a few things that were a little odd. I guess Hampton Inns don't have glass, so you have to have a drink in a paper cup. The manager found us some plastic champagne glasses that were better than paper . I guess it's safer than glass for children? Also there is no whirlpool at the pool. There is a workout room. There's an internal entrance to the restaurant that's off the lobby - Sebago Brewing Company. The duvet covers are washed for each person's stay and the bed and room was very clean. One evening it was quite cold, so we went there for dinner and had a good meal. The parking is valet parking and they always got our car promptly. Best of all though, it's a block from the water and the bike/running path that runs along the water. It's across the street from some great places to eat (Duck Fat and Micucci's). We walked a lot, even though Portland was blustery and cold. The Hampton Inn was very inviting to come back to.

Wonderful location- nice property- very clean and quiet. Has an indoor pool and complimentary breakfast and is located near lots of shopping the ferry and the waterfront. The onsite restaurant was great as well. Staff are nice. Would stay again, and would recommend for anyone who wants a nice place without tons of bells & whistles etc.
