Description: The East Ender offers new American food with bold New England flavors. Chef Mitchell Gerow appreciates the philosophy of nose to tale cooking. He sources products from local farmers and purveyors. Quality local ingredients allow East Ender to create a menu from scratch and present it in an approachable and affordable way. Seriously good food in a seriously casual environment. A neighborhood meeting place to enjoy house cocktails, craft-beers, and wine that caters to the cuisine. Our menu offers seasonal snacks, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.

“The Holiday Maker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Sadly we flew home from the USA today and whilst reminiscing with our friends about our favourite holiday moments, it clearly emerged that East Ender was a holiday making moment for us all (4 in our party). We didn't have a conventional meal, we kept ordering dish after dish from the menu. The boys said, "the chicken wings were the best I've ever tasted". The ribs were simply divine and we spent ages trying to guess the recipe (secret ingredient still not known to us). The deserts were simply 'out of this world', we ordered one of each. Mac and cheese remains my personal favourite - it is like nothing I've ever tasted although the surprise of the night were some pork scratching type things. They're not on the menu, you have to ask for them - think we paid about 5USD for a small bowl - worth every penny for the experience!!!
It doesn't stop there, the service was impeccable, personal, friendly, and incredibly knowledgable about the details of the food, beer, and special home made delights behind the bar. We simply couldn't fault it. Even the dog art got us talking for ages, we'd love to know the artist if anyone knows.

Great bottles beer selection and happy hr specials. The food is a bit out there, but you can find some decent dishes.

“An Absolute Winner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We recently found this restaurant while visiting Portland. Dining here was a trip highlight. East Ender uses fresh, high quality ingredients. The dishes are creative and well-prepared. We enjoyed a delicious salad and brussel sprouts with bacon as our starters. We had the short ribs (I think of them often!) and the brisket dinner. The portions were generous so we were too full for dessert. Our server was friendly and attentive. We hope to return to Portland some day to enjoy another delicious meal at this restaurant. It is highly recommended.

“Good comfort food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We ate upstairs. We got the highly touted lobster nachos but they just didn't do it for us - they were good but not awesome. The burger was great. Salads were delicious. All in all a good Monday night out.

“Duck fat overflow or good on its own merit?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

We couldn't get into Duckfat and really wanted a bite and brew. All we got was a small pizza-a mere appetizer really, but it was delicious! Goat cheese, caramelized onion and bacon and a terrific homemade crust. A little pricey, but we will go back.
