We took a quick trip over to Peak's Island on July 4th with relatives visiting from afar. The girl at the hot dog cart right off the dock suggested that Peaks Island House might be best for our group, including casual diners with small children. Otherwise, for fancier dining, she suggested the other two restaurants on the island. We waited for this place to open then scooped up the best tables on the deck. Although it was the 4th of July, the island's busiest day of the year, it was not jam-packed with people. There was no wait to get in when they opened, and we found a couple of tables right away. You can see the water from everywhere; after all, it's ocean front and on an island. Our waitress was fine, nothing notable, as was the food. The best meals mentioned by our group were the BLT and Turkey Club. Otherwise we weren't wowed. If it wasn't for the casual atmosphere and limited options of other establishments, we would probably try a different place next time.
