Old Orchard Beach isn’t Martha’s Vineyard, and the Skylark isn’t a sleek, modern, upscale hotel with all the latest gadgets and amenities. It is, however, family-friendly, right on the beach, and within easy walking distance to The Pier, restaurants, shops and amusements.
For the 4th year in a row we spent a weekend here, and as always, enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Other people must too – when we tried to extend our reservation for next year, we discovered that the couple who reserve the room the week before us had been vacationing here for 15 years!
Room 17 is on the corner of the second floor - queen bed, kitchenette and a great cross breeze. The view can’t be beat, and there’s nothing as sleep-inducing as a day in the fresh air and the sound of the ocean’s waves hitting the shore when your head hits the pillow.
Just steps from our door we enjoyed a moonlight stroll on the beach, and we watched the sunrise from the chairs on the deck.
There’s a small patio and lawn area between the motel and the beach, with tables and chairs and charcoal grills for the use of guests. The staff is friendly, efficient and more than happy to answer questions or provide assistance.

If you’re a certain age, the Skylark will remind you of the kind of place you vacationed with your family when you were a kid.More
