“Great breakfast with so so service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

We were seated right away, but were served our breakfast of delicious blueberry pancakes/eggs/muffins about an hour later. It took 20 minutes to get napkins and a fork. I got up to find them, but couldn't. The servers are nice, but slow. Atmosphere is cute with games on the tables for kids to play. Food was fresh and delicious. A bit pricey.

“What a find! Exceptional meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

We found this restaurant quite by accident. We drove to Old Orchard Beach because there were some stores we wanted to shop at, but we found ourselves in a super congested traffic jam with people trying to find parking so they could get out of their cars. There are definitely no beaches or stores in Maine that are worth this hassle! We turned down a side street and drove a few moments until we found a larger road. Then on the right we saw the sign for Captain's Gallery. The hostess, who we later found out was one of the owners, Caroline, was friendly and seated us. She took time to explain their favorites. The waitress, Diane, was very attentive and helpful. The place is newly renovated and immaculate. They have a very wonderful gift shop and when we visited, they were setting up another very large dining room for a special event occurring the next day. We were sorry we didn't find this place sooner in our trip. They have an extraordinary breakfast menu (lobster and eggs?), desserts, wraps, and sandwiches. We had the seafood platter which is one of their specialties and it was truly enough food for 3 people. We also ordered the baked haddock which was perfectly cooked. This was money well spent and one of the highlights of our trip to the southern coast of Maine. You should not miss this restaurant -- it's well worth a drive.

“A bad Monday night at Captain's Galley Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

You know the saying - "Never go to a restaurant on a Monday night because...." - well it came to roost for us in spades last night. We arrived early, but then people started pouring in. It became obvious that the managers had either not realized or remembered that there was a huge concert in town that night and had not planned for a good sized crowd. Our waitperson was not too experienced and had way too many tables to take care of, and so things dropped between the cracks. She did not know the menu very well, and in her haste misunderstood my wife's order, and instead of the Captain's Rib Eye Steak, she got the Captain's Cut of the Prime Rib - more money - but it wasn't even hot. Obviously just brought out of the refrigeration from Sunday, cut and barely heated. Even better is that my wife's salad and my Shrimp Cocktail was brought to us after our entrees were served - and we had to ask for them. At lest the salad was fresh - the lettuce on the shrimp was so wilted it was obvious that it had been made about two days before and had just sat in the refrigerator waiting - and the shrimp were not much better. I give them credit for the sauce, it was excellent. When we ordered a dessert, our wait person told us that it would take some time because of all the tables she had as she had to make it. A few minutes later she came back to tell us that they were out of the pound cake for the Strawberry Shortcake, so could not make it. We gave up and asked for our bill - and this is not a cheap place to eat. I would suggest being careful in planning the day you want to try this restaurant and cross Monday off the list.

“Perfect...food, service, location and atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

We visited the Captains Galley today for dinner after a long day at the beach....service was perfect, the food was a little high prices but the portions were huge! Everything was tasty and well worth the price. Our server was Teri and she did a fantastic job:)

“Terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

Food was terrible and waitress was clueless. Four of us ordered fish and it was dried out. Marinara sauce tasted like it came out of a jar, and pasta was overcooked. Asked for crushed red pepper and waitress had no idea what it was. Would not go back.
