“Wonderful jewel in Maine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

We had a very romantic stay in this bed and breakfast, located in a jewel of a town in Maine. The hosts were great, and the breakfasts were wonderful. The home was in the center of town. You could choose to walk to the gift shops, or to the cove. We walked along the beach, and the rocky coast on a special scenic trail. The restaurants were plentiful and served all your seafood favorites. I did manage to find some vegetarian cuisine also. The architecture of the bed and breakfast was lovely, and it was quite enjoyable to see all the other various examples of fine New England homes!

This is our third time staying here. We enjoy the Maine Suite (though can be a bit pricey) and the English Suite, both on the second floor in the main house. Breakfast is always delicious and filling. The hosts are Jerry and Pat. Jerry is the front of the house person usually the one connecting with the guests. Pat is behind the scenes in the kitchen. On our recent trip, however, she was present in the livingroom area several times and not once acknowledged my husband or myself with a hello or even a smile. When we were leaving it would have been most appropriate for Pat to say thank you for staying here but looked like she couldn't be bothered. Will say that this was the first time in our several stays that this popped up as an issue. Otherwise, it's a charming B&B and in a great location. You can't go wrong choosing the Trellis House!

This delightful b&b is perfectly positioned-backing onto the Marginal Way (a great paved footpath which goes for about a mile and a half along the coast) and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, the beach and Perkins Cove. We didn’t move our car once from the drive-a good thing as the town can get very busy during summer. We stayed in the Barbary Cottage in the garden-a really good choice as it felt so private. I’d definitely recommend this option when booking. Inside, it was really cute-the bed had a lovely quilt and super soft sheets with a big fan overhead which kept us cool. The ceilings were high so it felt light and airy. There was a rocking chair and a wicker chair to sit on. The bathroom was small but well-equipped. We had a little porch of our own, or we could use the loungers in the garden. Breakfast was lovely-fluffy pancakes, bacon, sausage and fruits, all served by the charming owners in a wrap-around porch with little tables, which was delightful. We looked over the pretty garden and chatted to the owners, who were very friendly and informative. A perfect stay.

Room Tip: The Barbary Cottage, although small, is a lovely private place to stay

We just returned from Ogonquit. We had a wonderful time. Our stay at Trellis House couldn't have been better! The owners are warm and friendly, the house is extremely charming---and our breakfasts were delicious. We had a beautiful room that was comfortably air conditioned (our first night there was during a heat wave!)---and we could see the ocean from the deck outside our room. We highly recommend this lovely inn.

Room Tip: We liked our room in the little building behind the house. It was very quiet back there----just a f...

My husband and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed the quaintness of the inn and the beauty of the surroundings. The most exceptional aspect was the hospitality of the proprietors who prepared me special gluten free breakfasts. The second day a special meal was served to me without me even mentioning the dietary restrictions again.
The large and airy porch was lovely and we enjoyed eating and relaxing there. We would definitely go again, given the chance!

We just returned from our four day stay at the Trellis House. We had read all the reviews. We were not disappointed. It went beyond our best expectations. Location made walking to town or walking on the Marginal Way so easy. The breakfast was a different delicious delight each morning. Everything was immaculate. Our room was comfortable and enjoyable. Pat and Jerry are perfect hosts - helpful, friendly and not intrusive. This was our first trip to the Maine coast and we hope to return and will certainly be glad to stay again at the Trellis House.
