“New and Refurbished.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

TripAdvisor needs to remove their current pictures of the Colonial Inn, as it has been completely remodeled. Everything is brand new and tastefully decorated. The wraparound porch is a great touch. You are no less than a 10-15 minute walk from anything important in Ogunquit. Only trivial complaint is that there is no assessable ice machine. However, the friendly staff will get you ice when you request it.

We stayed in one of the Guest House suites this year and loved the ample space for the price. It was wonderful to have a bathroom with two sinks and a separate room for our kids, where they could each have their own bed. The staff exceeded our every request, especially Chris and Dore. We had stayed at the inn before the renovation and were very happy. But the update made the whole experience that much better. The complimentary breakfast had enough offerings to satisfy both the adults and the finicky kids, leaving us fueled and ready for a morning of shopping or hiking the Marginal Way before heading to the beach.
Just got home and already can't wait for next year.

Room Tip: The Guest House suites are an amazing value.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Colonial Inn in Ogunquit, ME. The Inn was family friendly as we have both a 5 and a 3 year old. The Inn has recently undergone a complete renovation and looked beautiful. The rooms were clean, the staff was great and the location to downtown shopping, Ogunquit Beach and Marginal Way was convenient.

I stayed at the recently refurbished Colonial Inn hotel for a full week in June 2013. The hotel was literally a home away from home with friendly personnel who went out on a limb to meet the needs of clients. The rooms were clean with very comfortable beds and fresh linen. As a garden lover, the surroundings were breathtakingly surreal . In fact, Ogunquit generally proved to be beautiful. I can't imagine going to any other hotel where the relationship between the proprietor and staff worked so perfectly to provide best possible services. Would highly recommend it

I'm starting with May 2012 when the class of 1962 had their 50th reunion at The Inn and under new ownership. Renovations were ongoing but yet the owner did everything in his power, along with the excellent staff to accommodate a large group of about 40 women and some brought their husbands along. We all felt extremely welcome and enjoyed the relaxing, homey atmosphere of The Inn. It felt like a family reunion. We sat around at night in the comfortable chairs and sofas in the main room of the Inn, getting reacquainted with our classmates and maybe even playing a tune or two on the piano.
Fast forward to May 2013 . We had such a wonderful stay at the Inn the first time around that about 25 of us returned this May. Most of the renovations were completed and it came out beautiful! The décor of rocking chairs on the wrap-around porch and furnishings that are reminiscent of the original Inn, which was one of the first Inn's built in Ogunquit as well as the newly renovated rooms, all added to the charm and hospitality of the Inn.
We had our coffee every morning on the porch veranda along with the delicious continental breakfast, which included bagles, oatmeal, toast, muffins and a variety of beverages. It was more like a full breakfast.
The Inn should be renamed "The Hospitality Inn" because the atmosphere was warm, friendly and hospitable!
I especially want to thank the excellent management people and staff who went above and beyond to make all of their guests feel comfortable and special.
I feel I made new friends for life while I was there. I just returned home from my third visit to the Inn. It's a place you return to because it feels like you're coming home!!
Thank you to all!! Pat Foley

My husband and I traveled to Ogunquit for 2 nights. We stayed here and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was for the price. We stayed on 2 nd floor, room faced the street. Our room was right near exit door, so in the am all we could hear was doors opening and closing loudly, they need to fix this so doors will close slower and quieter. We could hear people above us . The room is large with plenty of space, used the bench for a coffee table, would have liked a luggage rack for our suitcases, not enough hangers for 2 people. no iron but we asked for one and got one. There was a strong chemical smell, the room and inn has been completely renovated, bright clean colors, very soft bed with lots of comfy pillows, nice sitting area. Bathroom is nice size with a great stand up tile shower with nice toiletries. There is a hair dryer in closet. There was not a mini fridge or ice bucket, did not see any vending machines for a cold drink. They do provide cold lemon water in lobby. We opened all the windows to help with chemical smell from new carpets in halls, fresh paint and fresh varnished floors and all new linens. It helped a lot and temperature outside was nice. Ac worked fine and we used it more for air flow again to remove smell. The free breakfast was nice, muffins, cereal, yogurt, toast, engish muffins, and hard boiled eggs. There was also hot oatmeal. We did not need any assistance while there so we had very little communication with staff, everyone seemed friendly and accommodating. Owner welcomed us upon arrival and again at breakfast. Pool is clean with hot tub, but pool temp was cold not heated and hot tub was warm not hot, no chairs to sit on around pool. The inn has very nice sitting areas throughout, on porch and inside. Beautiful landscaping and location of inn is walking distance to everything. Parking was not a problem, but it maybe as tourism increases. We walked the marginal walk and followed the foot path to beach. Inn is a great location to town and beach. All in all we were pleased with our stay and would recommend unless these things bother you, we don't sleep in when we are on vacation so we were up in the mornings. There is a lot they can improve on , but it is under new ownership and trying to make a nice resort place for all to come and stay in this very cute town. Hopefully they will read this and add a few things and change a few things. I would stay there again!

My daughter and I had a great weekend! The weather was perfect and location was great. If you have been there before and know what is there you are all set. Our room was quiet and comfy. I would have liked a bench in the bathroom to but your change of clothes etc. on. I was very disappointed in their hospitality. When we checked in they didn't say welcome, told us nothing about our accommodations including breakfast was included and where, when you should check out, nothing about the town, etc. I had to ask for ice and it was in a locked room. There wasn't any kind of information in the room. I asked for change and told there was not a cash box, soda machine, etc. If they work on this it will be great!
