“Gay Ogunquit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2009

Locals may refer to the water as refreshing but it is too cold for me to enjoy. However, Ogunquit beach is still worth visiting as the stretch of sand extends a mile or two into Wells, ME.

Fortunately, the gay section of Ogunquit beach is is beyond the noise and clamor of the scores of families you will undoubtably see when you first arrive. As you walk to the beach turn and walk towards Wells. Along the beach look for a wooden footbridge that leads back over the dunes away from the ocean. Although there is no official line of demarcation between where predominantly straight couples and families set up and the gay section begins, once you get to the footbridge you will notice a disproportionate number of men. Enjoy Ogunquit beack - I certainly do each time I visit.

“One of the Best Beaches in the World”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2009

Ogunquit beach is one of the nicest beached I have ever been too. There isn't any seaweed or rocks, its nice white sand. It surrounded on 3 sides by water so you can walk around to the other side of the beach and there isn't waves it's more like a pond, but the water level rises and falls with the tide. There are hotels and resteraunts, and stores right on the beach so you rent a room right there on the beach and never leave if yuou don't want to. The only thing is Ogunquit beach is a very popular beach and the lot fills up quick ( and you have to pay for parking in season, off season its free) so get there early or else your gonna find yourself parking it far away and having to lug your stuff a long way to the beach and back.

“great beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2008

The beach at Ogunquit is beautiful white sand without rocks or seaweed or anything else but sand. You can access it from your hotel (The Norseman) or The Dunes, where we stayed (via a row boat in high tide or a walk across the tidal basin in low tide) or the public parking/beach access. See my review of The Dunes.

Very quaint and charming. Seemed to step back in time - great beach with plenty of sand - water was clear and crisp.

“Great Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2006

The beach is great and was not very crowded at all in early June. The beach does not allow dogs on it though. The beach is sort of like a little island that you take a small bridge over and there is water on all sides of this island. You can see the nice rocky coastline on one end of the beach and that is where we sat and I will post some pictures. When the tide went out we collected shells, and the beach over all is great. For those of you that have not been to a beach in Maine, of course the water is cold. Not much you can do about that. I didn't mind and I still went in for a swim in early June.
