“Looks are deceiving - best freshest lobster ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

We fell into Perkins Cover Lobster Pound entirely by accident and we are so glad we did. Got to Maine around 2.30 in the afternoon and arrived at PCLP around 7 PM. Having no idea what to expect and not really expecting anything great, we went inside the little shack and chose our lobsters, had them weighed and also ordered fresh corn. We waited outside having no idea what the place was all about (our very first trip to Maine). We dined al fresco on the absolute freshest lobster we have ever eaten! We really didn't need butter at all and the corn was amazing as well. The owners are the nicest folks. We had a really good dinner and a most pleasant night. We went back our last night in Ogunquit and had even larger lobsters (mine was 3 1/2 pounds!) and two corns each! We got to really talking with the owners and ended up taking home two wooden buoys for our grandsons. It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back next year!

“Outstanding lobster!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013 via mobile

We ordered lobster to be delivered at 6:20 pm, and the lobster arrived by the lobsterman who caught them that day.... right at 620!!! How cool is that! We forgot to ask them to crack our lobsters, but they were soft shell and we didn't even need crackers. We could just use our hands. The lobster was sweet and delicious! Pick up some salads in town, throw some corn on the grill, pop open a bottle of chilled white wine, and ta da! Fab little private lobster feast!
We'll be back for sure!

“PCLP Goes the Extra Mile!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

My experience with the fine folks that run the Perkins Cove Lobster Pound was one that left a standing impression. I am writing this review over a month after my visit because I was sitting in my kitchen recalling how helpful the staff was when I was on vacation there. When going in to find out the best way to transport lobster home for my family members, the member of the staff that was working offered to come in early to make sure the lobsters were cooked and packaged for travel. Every time we have gotten food from the PCLP we have not been disappointed. Along with the great people, are great prices too! You can't go wrong! I was truly blown away with the service and the food. A MUST GO if you love lobster!

“By far the best lobster we have ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Like the reviews say, this is not a restaurant. It is solely a lobster pound on the side of the fisherman's house. The man and his son go out every morning to catch the clams and lobster. Every evening you can pick out the lobster you want from the tank and have them steam it for you.

My boyfriend and I sat on one of their picnic tables with 2 other couples and all shared a great evening full of lobster and stories about our travels. Great atmosphere and amazing food! If you go, take your own beer/wine and enjoy the place. Will definitely be back!!!

“Lobsters and clams only! Not a restaurant but a food stop . . .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This place is not a restaurant, it is a lobster pound. So this means that they will steam your lobster and/or clams and provide butter, but nothing else. As such, there are no side dishes, rolls, or anything else. Just lobsters, clams, butter, napkins, wetnaps, and sodas. You can eat them there, outside on their benches or take it with you.

We aren't New Englanders, so we ordered a soft and hard shell lobster as well as a pound of clams. The clams were delicious, so fresh! Who knew they could be so tasty! The lobsters, were merely mediocre. The soft shell was slightly sweeter than the hard shell, the hard shell was 2 pounds and bland tasting. Every lobster in my life has tasted great and then we get to Maine and have the most lackluster lobster, ever. Perhaps we ordered incorrectly and should have gotten the chixs? Prices are not as inexpensive as news outlets say, so be prepared to bring some money.

Thank goodness they have a cleaver to pre-crack everything for you. So if all you want is lobster, this could be the place for you. I don't think they even offered lobster rolls when we stopped by,
