“Great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2008

Upon arrival at the hotel we were upgraded from a standard to premium room at no extra charge. The room was spacious, freshly decorated and immaculate. Seemed to be newly renovated. Many features were higher end than what you'd expect from a 3* hotel. Front staff were friendly and we had no problems at all. Our room faced onto the back of the property so it was nice and quiet. The bed was so comfy we overslept!

While the hotel is not in the heart of the action, it is only a short (approx. 10 minute) walk to the beaches, restaurants, etc.

Best value for the money I've ever had! We paid $109 for this room and were really impressed.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Gorges Grant. We went for the standard room with 2 queen beds. Nice, clean second floor room. Quiet enough without much hall noise. A bit pricey but we didn't want to take a chance on some of the cheaper places, due to reviews posted here.

A little pricey but stayed in a deluxe room which was very large and very nice. All staff were very nice and helpful. restaraunt only served breakfast, it was above average. Pools were fine, amybe a little smaller than they appear in pics. Hot tub was below average. Grounds and other areas were very well done. The crowd seemed more like couples or familes with older kids, not many young kids.

overall a very pleasant stay and if traveling abck to Oquniquit will stay again.

We stayed at Gorges Grant Hotel for two nights in July 2008. Had never been to Maine, and stayed in NH the night before at a crummy Motel 6, so this was such a pleasure!!!

Hotel was immaculate, as were grounds. Room was more than comfortable. We used the indoor pool and spa which were both very clean and pleasant. Staff members at front desk were extremely helpful, even printed a map for us from Mapquest when we asked for directions back to NH; great customer service. Housekeeping was top notch.

Gorges Grant has a trolley stop in front of it, which couldn't have been more convenient. Location was ideal -- we just took the trolley, which was a great way to sightsee.

My only complaint was the $210 we pai.d each night, but I'm sure there weren't many other hotels in the area that would compare to Gorges Grant. We would definitely stay there again!!

  • Liked — Beautifully kept grounds, comfortable bed, very clean room with amenities; great location

My grandsons and myself have been staying at Gorges Grant every summer for a weekend for over seven years. They love it there and look forward to it every year. We would not consider staying anywhere else, it is convenient, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and bright. It even has coin operated washer and dryers (a must when you travel with children).

The Gorges Grant was very clean with nicely manicured grounds. The pressure in the shower was unbelievably excellent! This small feature made a huge difference. The bathroom contains Bath and Body Works products that they replenish each day. I had heard mixed reviews about the restaurant so we didn't eat there. I *highly* recommend The Egg and I (just a block away) for breakfast or brunch: excellent friendly service, unique menu, and delicious food!!!! We loved it. The hotel was a short walk from the downtown area and we also easily walked to/from Marginal Way. We used the indoor pool and hot tub; both were fine though I found the pool to be a bit cool. There were coffee makers in the lobby but coffee service was never set up: a bit frustrating. It was a pleasant stay and the hotel was nice, but we saw MANY hotels in the area (and there are a lot of them!) advertising room rates far below what we paid. I think we could have definitely found a hotel of equal quality at a much lower price. We did go during the off-season (late April) so I know in the high season you might not find as many deals. If you are willing to take a risk, I have a feeling you can find some excellent last-minute deals, especially during the off-season.

  • Liked — the water pressure in the shower was amazing
  • Disliked — the price for the off-season was a bit high

I love tripadvisor. It's taken the guesswork out of finding hotels for me and my family. This weekend we spent a night at Gorges Grant Hotel. When we booked, they only had a room left in their King Charles (out) building which we had read wasn't as nice. We took it anyway as the hotel was highly rated.

What we found: The reception staff was great. Two people were working at the desk and they both contributed to making us feel welcome. One of them even went online and found us an obscure attraction that we had mentioned we were interested in - without us even asking! The lobby was bright and clean. We went to our room in the King Charles building at it was spacious, immaculately clean, and had everything we needed. The bathroom was huge and bright. The water pressure was great. The beds were comfortable. The view out the back was peaceful. Finally, our rate was great and we felt that we had really found a great hotel that we would definitely return to.
