“Quiet, relaxing, and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

My 7 year-old daughter and I spent 3 days at the Mariner. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It included a full-sized fridge and a microwave. The hotel is not new, but is well-maintained. Our favorite activity at the hotel was the pool. There is a good-sized outdoor pool and a small indoor pool right next to it. From the outdoor pool you have a nice view. There are marshes at the back of the property and the ocean can be seen in the distance. A small breakfast was provided that included fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea, instant oatmeal and store-bought pastries. The staff members were helpful and courteous. There was a little noise from Route 1 and you could hear other guests and shower water running in adjacent rooms, but this was not a problem.

The Mariner is located about a mile outside of the heart of Ogunquit. We found it easy to access the town and beaches on the trolley ($1.50 for adults, $1.00 for children). We never waited more than 10 minutes for the trolley and the stop was across the street from the hotel. It was also a great way to sight-see as the streets in town were, at times. congested. Parking is limited in town and beach parking is expensive ($10-$20 per day). Footbridge Beach is near the hotel (we were told 1/2 mile away) but it is not really walkable with kids and beach gear.

If you want to stay in the heart of Ogunquit you won't need to drive. There are many in-town choices, a number of them on the water. However, we were very satisfied with our stay at the Mariner. It was quiet and relaxing and the rates were very reasonable compared to other hotels/motels we looked at in Ogunquit.

Third year here and had another great time. Breakfast was really a good surprise. The addition of outside grills was a nice addition. Easy to get everywhere with the trolley right across the street. Great view of the marsh from on high.

Very pricey for the shabbiest motel room I've seen in a long time. Imagine that beach motel you and your family piled into when you were seven. It hasn't changed a bit (but the carpet and drapes might have been new then). Pool crowded with kids. Leathery-skinned adults smoking on the terrace-corridor with very long-distance views of the ocean off to the side. You can do better than this.

It is with our apologies to respond to your posting and we thank you for your business.

We are disappointed that our hotel did not meet your expectations for your recent stay and we appreciate your concerns. It not sure which room you stayed in or if you stayed here at all. We have totally renovated each room within the last three years (NEW drapes and carpeting) at the hotel. We feel that with our two pools (indoor and out) give families plenty of room within the resort.

Should you wish to discuss further, we welcome you to contact us and we hope you find accommodation to better suit your needs when in Ogunquit.

Not much of a resort, but still a very nice place to hang out -- about a half mile walk to the beach -- indoor and outdoor pool -- pleasant staff. The only problem we encountered was the flaky wifi which stopped working every couple of hours.

The location of the Mariner Resort is nice with a scenic view on the tidal marsh and a walking distance to a few nice restaurants. We booked at the Mariner Resort for a long week-end and it was a little bit overpriced (but in the range of prices in the area for that period). The pools were great with a hot tub as well. The breakfast was included with fresh fruits and yogurts instead of the traditional doughnuts!!!. The kids were playing with a styrofoam plane launching it from the second floor and the owner did not like that. The way he asked the kids to stop was not the most friendly way and we felt he did not welcome the kids. But other than that it was a nice and clean place.

We haven't been to the Mariner in a few years and it was a refreshing change. The place looks much better than it has in a while. The rooms aren't so musty anymore. The place has a fresh coat of paint and new landscaping. The staff seemed friendlier than last time as well. We usually go to Maine to visit friends and with as many properties as there are in this area, choices can be many. But I think we will be back to the Mariner again.
Like getting pool towels from them, the pool is clean and parking is good.

The Mariner Resort is a very nice place to stay. Rooms are reasonable, clean, and big. Very good shower pressure and water temperature. Nice full sized fridge. A/C worked great as did the wireless internet. Grounds are immaculate as are the pools. Didn't use the indoor pool- the weather was great. Wonderful view of the ocean and river. Drove to Footbridge Beach about a half mile-could walk it if you wanted but we had 5 in family and alot of beach items. Love the area and plan to return next year. Very enjoyable. Great staff and cleaning crew!
